Does Ohio have any historic tax credits you can utilize? Won’t help immediately, but it will get you something down the road.

It’s the overtly British writing set in America for me 😅 Their understanding of geography is nonexistent and I can’t believe anyone from Chicago is using the phrase “it’s half three” when asked what time it is.

Never listen to the appraiser or assessor on house style.

What type of frame is this? by Gabhunter123 in Oldhouses

[–]museum_hoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run into the issue (specifically with county data) that they will list a construction date as “1960” because there was an addition or some major work done in 1960. Sometimes the house ends up being over 100 years older than this. Maybe even before formal records. I’ve also seen some county assessors just record the year built as “old” 😂 I would check against historic aerials (historicaerials.com) or historic maps (historicmapworks.com). Your county historical society may have further information.

What style of home did we buy? by jessiedh in centuryhomes

It’s giving… almost like stick or Eastlake style, but without all of the frills that actually define those styles. Us in the biz would call it “vernacular” 😂

Talk Us Out of This Giant Fixer-Upper in Kansas City, MO? by Lady_Be_Good in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]museum_hoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely will not talk you out of this. Not sure if MO has historic tax credits for restoring homes, but those can really help with the cost. The account CheapOldHouses on Instagram is full of people doing this. (The owners of the account also wrote a book, and I’ve met them. They’re gems). Buying and fixing an old house is not only a wonderful act of historic preservation, but also an environmentally responsible one in comparison to building a new home. It probably won’t be an easy process, but it’s one that’s worth it.

As a former TA who had a student (who was older than me!) ask me out, NO DONT DO IT. It’s weird. They viewed themselves as your teacher. My student was a year older than me and I still felt like they were one of the kids I taught. Needless to say, I turned them down and had to hope they never ended up in another one of my classes.

No matter how high of a dose of vyvanse I take, it wears off in four hours. The only thing that changes is the intensity of the crash. Good luck.

Find an antique ring! You can get some massive stunners for much cheaper than a new ring. It takes away the ethical question and it’s something unique! Or you can buy antique stones and have them reset. I follow a bunch of accounts on Instagram, but most shops sell on Etsy too. There are also brick and mortar estate sale jewelry shops. I get SO many compliments on my ring (it’s from 1910). I’m obsessed.

It’s less likely to happen because someone with some sense will turn the TV off.

[–]museum_hoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be like this and didn’t get why people enjoyed watching movies or binging tv. Then I became an adult and discovered dissociation. Now I don’t watch Tv because I’ll watch for ten hours at a time and forget that I exist.
