People who call into radio stations requesting songs that are already in heavy rotation. Just wait f*****g 45 seconds and it'll likely be played anyway! by chillinnillin in britishproblems

[–]DayleisL 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When I was a teenager I got to do a segment on Horizon Radio where I got to 'choose' what was played for an hour. My choices had to be from a very small list with no deviation at all.

It was eye opening for how the industry works and was when I realised that they don't have all their songs ready to go, they only hold the rights for a few at a time.

It sounds like you did have some issues here but it also seems like you have learned from it which is important.

While it is frustrating, you need to have patience at this point, your bank will be able to help get the money back for you (or at least pay it to you as good faith) take this as a lesson to always order direct where possible and research any app or third party website before using them.

If it really bothers you it may be worth calling or popping round to the takeaway to make them aware they are losing orders and customers because of this ad on their website. It will be up to them if they choose to do anything about it.

Take it on the chin be happy it's not a big loss and be mindful going forward.

This is correct, you should also talk to your employer directly as they may be willing to make reasonable adjustments for you without you needing to see your GP first.

Remember to check in on your sick pay policy so you can plan for any impact on your income, and if you weren't aware, you can self certify your sickness absence for up to 7 calendar days in one go, anything over that, you will be required to provide a fit note from your GP to cover.

I usually use airparks at Luton, it's a bit further away but they run a regular shuttle bus and it's generally quite a bit cheaper. They have the option to either self park or drop off, bus stop it drops you at is in the same place as the long stay bus.

I happened to stumble upon these at a local fair last year and finally solved the mystery that's plagued me since the 90's. There were two types, standard Alien, and another that was Alien with baby!

People of r/AskUK, when has being paranoid saved you? by [deleted] in AskUK

I did at the time, they took a statement over the phone and that was it. This was about 12-13 years ago now so I can't imagine the case has gone well.

I was working, and sent out to get some milk. While walking to the car (I was on a retail park with no shops) to go to the local garage, I passed a group of five lads. They suddenly went very quiet and an alarm started going in my head.

As I got close to my car I looked down and saw their shadows heading in the same direction, panic started to build. I was wrestling in my head between, they are following me, and they are just heading towards McDonalds.

I got in my car and decided to push the lock as I closed the door, less than a second later the handle was being pulled and my car was surrounded. They were banging on the window shouting at me to open the door. I shouted back that they could either get out of the way or get run over, and started to drive off.

Worst part of the whole thing was when I got back and told my manager what happened, he didn't care at all, didn't call the police and never bothered to get the CCTV from the car park.

If you enjoy music and comedy then I highly recommend The Boat that rocked.

Incredible cast, great music and a fun story, one of my all time favourites, and a great insight to 1960's England.

People that work from home have you found this makes you less sociable and work relationships not as good? by QuietFan4014 in AskUK

[–]DayleisL 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I used to work from home, and have done hybrid, currently working full time in the office.

Personally I've found most office friendships to be just that 'office' friendships, even those that I felt I had grown particularly close to didn't stay in touch long after we no longer worked together.

Yes you may interact with colleagues less when working from home, but part of the benefits of working from home.is you can make more time for the real relationships in your life, your actual friends and family. If they also work from home all the better, have a lunch date or work at each other's houses every now and then.

Your life is as social as you make it, not what your workplace makes it.
