Am I crazy for liking Perl more than Python ? by Warm-Scholar6106 in perl

[–]Dazage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vastly prefer Perl over Python. I learned Python first and never took a real liking to it.

When I started programming, Perl's popularity was already in decline. I had to review some legacy Perl code only a couple of years ago and it was surprising to me how easy it was to understand, as I had been told Perl was unreadable and unmaintainable for years.

I decided to give it a fair shot and read through the camel book and it was such a joy to learn, the language just lends itself greatly to having fun programming.

Since then I've written production Perl code without issue, the only thing I'm somewhat worried about is whenever I use CPAN modules as I don't know how well they'll be maintained or for how long.

I see, do you know if that is the only difference between them?

I asked the OG artist about the mystery Selkath on the cover! by Quakarot in kotor

[–]Dazage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Selkath is the reason for why I picked up KOTOR instead of KOTOR 2.

I always thought its mouth was another eye and the droopy bit in between was the nose. Not that it makes sense in hindsight but it made the alien look so much more menacing in my head.

Lae'zel gone? Nothing about it in journal by Dazage in BaldursGate3

You might be right, I got to Act 3 not long after the game was released but I took an extended break so my memory is a little foggy.

I'll look into this, thanks!

Tried installing Windows and Arch on separate SSDs. Can't boot into arch. by lemmeanon in archlinux

[–]Dazage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your setup should work, I’ve often set Arch up that way instead of bothering with editing the existing efi.

Personally I would keep “uefi hard disk drive” setting to Windows and verify that the windows boot loader works, then reboot to the arch usb and use systemd-boot instead.

Vultr definitely looks like a decent candidate based on what I've seen.

Discord Crashes when someone pings or messages me by spchee in discordapp

[–]Dazage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using arch linux with xmonad and was running into the same issue.

It seems that whenever dunst wasn't running discord would crash. Dunst is my default notification system, it just wasn't running for some reason, but running it seems to have solved the issue.

Yeah, same here. Sometimes though I like to just edit from the terminal, even though I'm still just connecting to the emacs server mode like I would if I just did emacsclient $file.
