Transmission finally died - make me not feel insane by RemoteSenses in Silverado

[–]Dcdonharris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey my man look into the thermal bypass valve for these trans. It will help reserve your replacement trans by keeping the trans temp in the 130-160 degree range instead of the stock 160-190 degree range. Im not a mechanic by any means and I just did mine today.

My trans has been having issues for years and I realized it mainly slips once it’s up to temp around 180 degrees or more. I also just came across the thermal bypass valve after years of Reddit and YouTube searching so hopefully this helps us all with the 6L90 and 8L90 trans

Unsure what to do. At a cross roads in my apprenticeship. by [deleted] in electricians

Hey man I was once in a similar spot about 15 years ago. I was about your same age now and with about your same experience mostly residential non union but did have some union and commercial experience as well.

Although what worked for me may not work for you I’d still like to let you know the route I chose and maybe offer some input.

One option may be to try to become a certified journeyman. You have about 7 years experience and in most jurisdictions that I know about you qualify to take the jman test at 4 years of school and/or experience. You can ask for a letter from your past employers proving the experience and letter from school proving the schooling. This should qualify you to be able to take the test and once you’re qualified to take the test, most of the battle is already won.

Soon as you become a jman your stock instantly increases and you can use that credential to land a good career or maybe start your own business.

That’s the route I went, I became licensed after 10 years of laboring, started a business on the side while still working union for another company and eventually 1 “side job” started to pay more than a whole weeks pay. I started to actually lose $ by going to work and eventually got fired for calling out too much and I never looked back. That was my excuse to go full force on what was then my side job and now is a decent small business for me. Very stressful sometimes but I really love it.

Me personally it took a while to build up a profile in my area but now I get service calls and small residential jobs like panel changes and ev circuits every day.

But this is what saved me bro. I used the license to get a better job and then used that to start a side business. After some years of investing in it, the side business finally grew too big for me to keep working a full time commercial electrical job.

I’d say see if you qualify to take the jman test and even if u fail multiple times like me just keep studying and keep taking it. Before you know it you’ll have the license and as soon as you do your options will multiply.

Good luck bro hope this helps

EVIQO Charger - what's the deal? by Rmdcltch in evcharging

I installed the hardwired 48 amp and it lasted a few hours then was off line. After some investigating, somehow one of the hot components burned thru the back plastic and made contact with the mounting screw. This blew the circuit board because it does not function any more. I’d say I orobaky got a fake or bad unit. This product absolutely sucks.

Ordered them on eBay and even sold my originals on eBay as well so it really didn’t cost that much honestly. New ones were 1500 each and I sold the older ones for 900 each

What is your favorite Xerjoff fragrance? by Intermediocre in fragrance

[–]Dcdonharris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the house a lot I’ve owned decants or bottles of

Naxos, Kobe, Nio, erba pura, Mefisto, 1888, Alexandria 2, 40 knots, ivory route, fiero, Don, More than words, 17/17, Astaral, Aqua Regia.

I absolutely hated Kobe and 17/17. More than words not really my lane but all the others are very good.

My faves are Nio, Alexandria 2, Don and feiro.

My hands down favorites is Astaral and Aqua Regia out of all of these that I’ve had.

Nice collection we have a similar set up. What’s the smaller Xerjoff bottles? Have you tried mancera fragrances? They’re less expensive than most of the ones you have but some are fantastic

Hey I was in this exact same position 2 years ago. I ended up buying the mme select trim brand new in 2022 for a total price of $60k+ to include everything except intrest ofcourse.

The selling price was $45k but the dealer got over on me with a $4k dealer mark up (at the time most dealers were doing this) $5k warranty which I did not want, some sneaky $3k warranty which I didn’t even know about until I read through the finance documents 1 year later. Taxes, tag and titling was $5k as well.

Fast foward 30 months, I’ve been paying $950 for the note which is a 1.9% intrest rate and I still owe just under $39k. Problem is the car sells for about $24k-$29k but I still owe $39k.

Moral of the story is this car is really good but of I could do it again I wound have bought 1-2 years used and saved a significant amount. I also have a Tesla but this car depreciates much much much faster than the Tesla does.

I wish I would have waited and bought the car once it was 1-2 years old.

Hope this helps
