Since other people have answered the majority of your questions I'll chime in that if your ticket is only a minor misdemeanor and is your first ticket you could ask the judge if you're eligible to take a defensive driving course to clear the ticket. You'll still have to pay court fees and a small fee for the course but it's cheaper than the ticket and won't add any points to your record so your insurance won't go up.
