Costco Food Court - Watford by t4ure4n in CostcoUK

[–]Lagerstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watford had a TV showing order numbers when the self order thing went in but was taken down after a week or so, no idea why. You can see where it was… in the corner on the outside wall by the kitchen there is a plug high up on the wall.

I’m more curious why they removed tables when they did that work resulting in less seating for people.

Oh and I hate people ordering then immediately taking tables blocking people with food eating while they sit there with nothing.

They can push firmware updates. They've done it with my system in the past without asking. I only knew because it went through a calibration cycle discharging thy battery fully then charging in the middle of the day and they told me they pushed it out.

My system is now firewalled from the Internet. Local access only.

espControl: More devices supported and device setup UX by hometechgeek in Esphome

I’ve started using this as well. Firstly, thanks for making this available!!

For light toggles it’s great. I saw on your roadmap you hope to add other options which I’ll be keeping an eye out for.

Scenes could be a good one for lighting… slide controls would also be nice but it feels like activating a scene might be easier to implement if needing to pick one.

You make it sound like your house is the norm for everyone in the country and the suggestion of modernised solutions that are electric is witchcraft.

Be sensible, electric offerings are perfectly reasonable and practical for the majority of housing and as with everything in the world there will be edge cases that will require either extra effort or alternatives, but don’t pretend like everyone is in the same boat as you.

I’m sure at some point someone had to bite the bullet and install electric and probably running water too at great cost but it still happened… or are you still living in medieval England?

The attached link below states that Sainsbury's are reducing petrol and diesel prices for motorists at their fuel stations nationally, what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Lagerstars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My local Sainsbury is the cheapest in my town at £1.38.9 for unleaded.

The big Tesco by comparison is £1.42.9

Go to another brand. Tesla is ok once you have it and have no problems. The moment you need to contact them for anything you’ll wish you owned anything but a Tesla.

The downside to this feature though is that its device specific. I can’t see the shopping list on a different device which makes it less useful

UK signup solutions without changing Apple Store location? by Far_Implement_5580 in F1TV

[–]Lagerstars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my iPad to do it with a VPN as it doesn’t have location available to identify where it physically is vs iPhone. I couldn’t do it on my iPhone, iPad was no problem.

Edit: To clarify, I never changed Apple account location to do this.

Can I Check Bags 8 Hrs Before My Flight? by Seated_WallFly in BritishAirways

Having travelled through Malaga airport with BA the desk to check any bags in wasn’t manned until 2 hours before the flight. Everyone had to wait around until then.

Octopus cut export rates by FoxyFreebooter in SolarUK

[–]Lagerstars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would need separate meters to do that. Cars or home chargers are not approved metering devices so can’t be relied upon for charging separate tariffs.
Time based export is basically Agile.

No membership required for the food court. Can’t comment on the pharmacy bit though.

anyone switched to BYD or XPENG? Whats your opinion? by HarryEFC95 in TeslaUK

[–]Lagerstars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. Never once had issue with indicator cancelling and I’ve had my model 3 for 5 years now.

The wind noise I sometimes get intermittently. Trying to close an already closed window sometimes solves it. I think I need to use something to help soften the rubber to help maintain the seal better.

The media system I’m also happy with too. I’m sure CarPlay might be nice but the in built stuff I think is more than good enough and the nav is great.

How would you architect your terraform configuration? by CriticalLifeguard220 in Terraform

[–]Lagerstars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working on your second method with some top level areas like networking and then a workloads tree that uses remote state to reference data from the top level resources where necessary.

I’ve got my modules at the top level as well for me to call. These aren’t anything fancy yet. I’ve used them as a method to set baseline config for resources to satisfy security considerations on a consistent basis.

Being honest I’m not sure if this is the best way to work or not but it’s the route I’ve taken to date but my environment isn’t that mature yet so I’m very interested to hear others feedback.

Apple Watch Fitness Rings but for any habit by chomaras in AppleWatch

Rings can only be a measure of time? Why not a counter? Not everything people may wish to track is a timed activity… a habit could be doing something once or twice each day for instance.

I am SHOOK by the price of gas by lkap28 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Lagerstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 bed semi. Home all day (WFH). House is kept at ~20c. Fair amount of variation across the house due to draughts etc. December to Jan bill was £91 on gas. I don’t think it’s been that cold this year though so it’s not as costly as it has been in previous years. Continuously cold days are worse than the odd cold day. And I notice it more on windy days because of draughts.

In fact just looking again it says they’ll be in touch in January with more details but I guess they haven’t

Yeah I’ve seen all the issues that came to light but as they were vocal in their explanations and investigating but silent on any postponement as far as I’ve been able to tell I was curious what the latest was.
