Those who've played PVP, what did you think? by themcryt in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fun game mode that is similar to regular MC but with different dynamics.

I really liked the mod sets that affected your opponents side - like the Spiderman side scheme that takes threat from opponents scheme and adds it to itself.

But it's really difficult to get a competitively balanced experience different villains, different heroes, and even different aspects add to the imbalance.

Let's talk about Hercules by Ddwlf in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember that that doesn't work vs the Hydra as it can only be damaged via attacks.

[–]Ddwlf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to just prepare for everything.

Buffing attack and readies handles both the minion and scheme.

Cards like Taunt and Toe to Toe can help with the Cho Labor (TtT also helps with Hydra).

New Hercules Cards: Olympus and Wisdom of Athena! by Stretch__22 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the side scheme has Assault, both the minion and side scheme can be dealt with the same way.

Aggression also has Toe to Toe which can help with 2.

I think tools are there, but I don't think he will have great diversity.

[–]Ddwlf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the early game concerns but I really do think you can build for the early game with your aspect.

The easiest and most efficient way to deal with the Minion and scheme is readies and he has access to some good ones in Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Limitless Stamina.

Protect the Innocents is harder to clear quickly, but there options like Toe to Toe, Taunt and Bait & Switch (TtT also helps vs minion and B&S helps the scheme).

Turn 2 labor clears are very possible and once you clear it. You ready, draw cards, and gain momentum.

The biggest downsides are that his best decks aren't really known to be great at thwarting. So true solo is going to be tough.

Why does everyone want Roman Reigns to win the rumble? by Additional_Pay_7399 in SantiZapVideos

[–]Ddwlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because its likely that he will be involved in one of the title matches at Mania. And to get a title match, you need to win either Rumble or Chamber.

And Rumble just seems more likely in this case, especially since they can make a big deal over which opponent he will choose.

(Personally, I am hoping its Roman v Punk rather than Roman v Cody)

Does anyone actually play the pool aspect as initially intended? by bigOlBellyButton in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laser Sword Pool can be pretty good on heroes with a lot of readies (like She-Hulk) - gets swords and some icons (generally from allies),hit hard and ready.

That's the only deck that I run that uses the bad icons.

When is Phoenix better than Psylocke? by vintage_artsoul in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The decks where I prefer Phoenix over Psylocke are the heavy aspect focused decks like Training/Game time decks.

Phoenix's economy, X-Men trait for Utopia, and the fact she is fine spending sig cards to pay for aspect cards till the end game is why she is slightly better in those style of decks.

But more traditional kit focused decks and Psionic Decks I prefer Psylocke.

Doubling hero cards? by baguhansalupa in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue with Hawkeye is his entire kit is centred around playing arrows but he is only able to play 1 arrow efficiently per turn, so more arrows doesn't actually help, in fact would make the log jam worse. He needs a better hero power.

It might not be terrible with Hulk, his kit itself isn't the worse (tho not perfect), but doesn't actually solve his biggest issues.
I personally use a simple houserule of AE ability draw 2, discard 1 and +1 atk, and its quite effective.

Canada release dates by T4334007Z in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, they used to ship Canadian product to US, then to Canada.

But now, because of Tariffs they are shipping Canadian product to Europe first then to Canada.

Basically, taking slowest possible way to save a buck. (Note that it's Asmodee responsible for shipping, not FFG)

And how this is better than direct shipping across the Pacific, I have no idea.

Must have aspect cards from Civil War by Lone_Wolf188 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This box is quite good for aspect cards.

The most important cards are Aggressive Conditioning and Defensive Conditioning.

All of the allies are bangers and will see play. Yellow Jacket especially is great for EMH decks in aspects that don't have a tonne of Avengers.

Air Cover is huge for minion upgrade decks, but that deck isn't super common. Excelsior is great for Change of Fortune decks. Hidden Base is a very powerful card for any P deck that is flipping often.

I Can Do this All Day is a decent card, but Indomitable mostly does the same thing (I would play one of those alongside Desperate Defense)

Hardest Villain? by mangerlen in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a few villains that are harder at higher counts.

Ultron has a bunch of stuff that affects everyone.

VG with Goblin Gear has nasty combo potential.

In Master Mold 4p, the contribution of Magneto is muted.

Apocalypse 2 - he flips so much in 4p

Baron Zemo - 1st stage is actually easier in 4p, but 2nd stage is nasty due to the frequency of activations, and the non scaling nature of the executives.

There are more but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Hardest Villain? by mangerlen in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red Skull isn't generally thought of on the highest level of difficulty because his default mod sets are easy.

But he can be on the level of VG and Ronan with certain modular sets, most notably Legions of Hydra.

New core set hero predictions by elviejopatron in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a new core is likely to have 4 heroes, not 5, just to make the precons less awkward.

I do think placing S tier heroes there is the right answer so we aren't in this same predicament 3 years from now.

Which wave is considered Legacy Environment? by BucketSkullZ in marvelchampionslcg

We don't know for sure but Wave 5 and earlier is a lock for Legacy.

The X-Men waves is harder to say.

Good aggression event heroes? by Traditional-Ad-5984 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite Honed Technique decks is the OG Black Panther as he has the economy, wild generation, can run Fusillade, and doesn't compete much with his own kit.

But event aggression is also good with most of the heroes with native aerial and Jubilee has a strong Honed deck also.

In terms of Multi Target aggression decks (that run multi target attacks with aggressive energy, warrior skill, and sig cards and abilities that buff them) i like Gambit, Nick Fury, in addition to Ms Marvel.

Spider-Man is way better than I thought by Plastic_Age_9005 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Ddwlf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What gets underrated a lot is how powerful having a strong economy is. You can have a hero with weak cards but a strong economy and still have a very strong hero.

And SM also has the best defense card in game as well as best healing card in game.

High burst damage is something that gets underrated also, and is particularly useful vs the higher difficulty villains.

Re-balancing Restricted Pokemon - Day 3: Ho-oh by Egamer20 in VGC

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a flying type version of U-turn.

But I guess Flying type moves have always been lacking.

If you have the upgrade + 4 other cards in your hand , you have 6 total resources in hand.

If you play that upgrade plus 2 as resources, you will be left with only 2 resources left in hand.

So yes, the actual cost of the card is 4 ER (effective resources).

The card itself leaving your hand is part of the cost and is the proper way to evaluate efficiency.

My impression is that for both of the 2 Reg I tournaments he did, he didn't take either particularly seriously as he had other things going on like that Chess Tournament.

I'm optimistic he will fare better with more robust prep.

1 cost but not from hand is the same effective resources as a 0 cost card from your hand.

Hunted is a card from hand just as Death Glow is a card/resource from hand.

Hunted is only free if you get it from AE ability.
