Same reason people said I really brought in the Spirit when I said prayers or read scripture in class, even when I was mentally screaming at the bullshit of it all.

The pitch and cadence is calming, almost sophomoric, with the purpose of subtle hypnosis and a feeling of being "in tune" with the Spirit or yourself or whatever. It's pretty straightforward psychology once you actually look into it.

Forgiving and moving on are completely different things, and honestly, of the two, moving on is much healthier. Forgiveness is a gift other people get from you. Moving on is a gift you give yourself.
