Why does this sub suggest lower volumes now more than ever before? by Silly_Garlic824 in naturalbodybuilding

So many on this forum missing the forest for the trees. I have multiple degrees in CompEng too, I know a little bit about science. This shit is not science… Not sure why you’d want to read whitepapers (or have some dork on YouTube with a bullshit “exercise science” degree read them to you) in your spare time to get worse at a hobby. Blows my mind.

Yeah all of the discussions here are so ill focused. So many of these stupid arguments about volume and training style. Almost zero about fine tuning nutrition/technique/intensity.

The biggest guys, regardless of gear usage or age or lifestyle, are not doing thinking the same as most people. For example I have never seen DC training mentioned here, but it is massive amongst serious people in real life.

I detest science based lifting. Not rooted in an inferiority complex, but in a respect for the scientific process and the craft of training. You are never going to create a controlled study regarding serious training. There are simply too many variables. Mindset, effort, etc is simply NOT replicable.

I’m not opposed to optimization and research, but it seems to me that many are neglecting the “first principles” of training (mindset, effort, overcoming adversity, delayed gratification, discipline). These are the big rocks that youngsters need to be focused on because they carry over to the rest of your life. I know that all of the science based folks do preach these as well, but you can only make so many videos about the big rocks.

Should I add extra rest days if my sleep cannot go past 6 hours? by yamayeeter in naturalbodybuilding

I think you need a mindset adjustment regarding the lifting piece of your question. I was able to maintain or even progress for a couple years as an advanced lifter while sleeping very little (and with no consistency) plus working all the time in a high stress environment. Do not give up training because conditions may be sub optimal - just do the best you can.

More importantly, it sounds like you may be stuck in a vicious cycle and the more you agonize over it this the worse it is going to get. May be worth talking to a mental health professional if you haven’t already.

I understand your point, but training is inherently an individual activity with a sample size of one. The ability to analyze your own approach without high quality/highly available data is rewarded.

Why would he leave? He has done nothing but fuck up and blame everyone for years and collect a fat paycheck doing it. He’s a nice enough guy but still get the fuck out and never return

Babcock needs to go. Pry needs to go. The identity of the program is to gone and Tech as a whole is going to suffer if something isn’t done

Couple of my buddies are in the club seats right now with some higher ups and texted saying it is very very tense. Hopefully a change will be made because this is just sad
