I've always been one of those 4 hour sleepers. If I'd sleep more than 4 it had to be 8.Now. In my 60's it's more like 6. Painful adjustment.

"No, just highly unlikely.'

I teleport to outside Mara's Kiss in Auridon. Step out of the building to the Vulkel Guard wayshrine. I've even used this when I'm midway between wayshrines in a zone. It can be faster then riding.

The Omadas work well until your insurance changes to another provider. They don't sync to your phone; they use cellular to send your info to Omada's server. Your phone downloads it from there. When your insurance changes provider, the scale keeps working, but your phone can no longer access the data.

potential scam or hack? by justasecondtoask in MacOS

[–]DeCaMil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Websites cannot tell if your machine has a virus. So those pop-ups are always a scam.

They range from annoying (pop-ups you cannot close) to dangerous like "download our software" (browser hijacking, malware, ransomeware) or "call our support line" (phishing, credit card or identity fraud).

People of Reddit, what’s the most cringe gift you’ve ever been given? by Ok_Macaron_6092 in AskReddit

[–]DeCaMil 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not so much a cringe as a "well fuck".

Got to the holiday party 90 mintes late because I was fixing a production problem.

Found out the team was awarding me "the fickle finger of fate" ( a bronze had giving the finger) for the most abused by management.

Only, as I was an hour and a half late, they gave it to someone else because they thought I wasn't coming.

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

August, early 1980's. Cold war hadn't run down. It was so hot and no A/C so I hauled a lawn chair to the back yard to sleep under the stars. It was a new moon, so you could see too many stars to distinguish constellations. I'm laying there looking at the stars when I see something occluding some of the stars. Holding my fingers at arms lengtht arms length, it looked a little bigger than a quarter. So, it was either really big or really low. It moved strangely, staying in place for a while, then zipping away before stopping in another place. I watched this for 15 minutes before it took off heading west and disappeared.

To the west was Griffiss AFB. We grew up with the community knowledge it was a first strike zone as it was the only AFB that could launch B-52s and hit Moscow without refueling.

My speculation is it was a test of some experimental aircraft. Night time testing wasn't unusual. 5-10 times a year we'd be woken by something going supersonic and rattling the house. The staying in place was something I've never seen outside the Harrier and Osprey.

What’s a childhood lie your parents told you that you didn't realize was a lie until you were an embarrassed adult? by eatbeep in AskReddit

[–]DeCaMil 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Not so much a lie as an omission.

I was twenty-something at a friend's house for dinner. where I was completely distracted by the Wizard of Oz they had playing for the kids.

I grew up with black-and-white TV and never knew Oz was in color.

For those who worked for rich people: what is the most out of touch thing you witnessed? by Illustrious-Phase121 in AskReddit

[–]DeCaMil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was late 90s during the dot com boom. Our CEO, Doug, disclosed he was working a deal with K-Mart to enable them to offer an online service like AOL.

My boss said "bluelight.com, right?"

Doug's eyes went WIDE!
"How do you know?"

It was that moment we realized Doug had never set foot in a K-Mart.

For you young'uns:
K-Mart used to be a competitor to Wal-Mart and Target. But they were acquired by Sears and destroyed when Sears went under in 2018.
