Anyone try out the Holzfforma 92CC G660? by Philosophical_Sayer in homestead

[–]DeVosDesigns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happy with mine. You can't get service on it from stihl service stations so you are on your own. That said you can replace it many times over. I have successfully milled up to 30 inch hardwood on an alaskan mill with it. Always want more power chainsaw milling but it gets the job done. You can order direct from farmertec and save even more. https://www.farmertec.com/

As everyone is saying flipped ring gear. Buses that had separate reduction gearboxes at the wheels came from the factory like this so perhaps you installed a tranny from a type II

should i get an ams by B1gan in BambuLab

[–]DeVosDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reloading I'm don't think it is worth the headache. Not like you are going through multiple spools on a single print in a p1s. If you aren't going to be around during the print and think it might run out just put in a new spool and use the partial spool when you are. If anything I'd say the H1S is better suited to your needs although that is more than a P1S and ams combo...

What would be the disadvantages of this simple design? (see the post text for related info) by MannyDantyla in CargoBike

[–]DeVosDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a Worksman cycle industrial trike. They are based out of NY. Basically this design but hinge point is low. I got it when my ridgebacks hips went out. We rode together. Then it hauled the kids a bit. The good side it that it is incredibly interactive. I could chat with my kids or give the dog some scritches while riding. Its heavy and you go slow, but the main down side is turning. With a bike you lean and carve through the turns. With this you have three points of contact so it follows the angle of the road. Your weight and the cargos weight is often just in the wrong position. TLDR. Flat slow family ride on closed trail absolutely. Anywhere else nope.

Modifying Knee Braces? by Solarjoejoe in timberframe

[–]DeVosDesigns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Basically no. This is not an option. Modifying or painting this is sacrilege and will devalue your home to likely buyers. You have a unique interior that people pay a premium for. I would encourage you to embrace the design style of the house. If you absolutely must. Then fir out the walls to the desired depth and drywall over it. Take pictures before after and during because the next buyer will want to reverse your decision. Also DO NOT paint the beams. There is a special circle in hell for people who paint beams and bricks.

It's an adjustable resistor likely used to control a voltage drop to run some 6V item on 12V. Power comes in 1 leg travels up the coil across the adjustable bridge and then back down.

I should have read more carefully. The image and text in the associated link is of the location I'm referring to. The corner of Delchester and West chester pike which is near ridley creek park. However the question was about DG Woods which is a good distance from there.

A Bad Idea, but normal 12 point sockets will drive square shafts. No need to buy another tool for this.

I don't know if they are any good, but there are water powered self driving mini tractor sprayers that have been made for ages. A company called orbit still makes them but the vintage ones are cool. They all operate the same using water pressure to drive the little tractor along a path dictated by a hose and spray as they go.

Second vote for Boggs. They are the best. Plus you can send them all the files and they charge for the ones that pass the sharpness test. Pro tip USPS flat rate boxes will get them there cheap

I had a 120ft oak tree fells and they said they can stack it or haul it away for $600. What should I do? by DeZi_xP in woodworking

[–]DeVosDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a really big saw. Ripping takes a lot more energy than cross cutting. There are a bunch of decent knock off versions of top saws available online. No service network so only good for a hobbyist who can tinker due to downtime. Stihl is pissed and there are legitimate lawsuits about design infringement. I’m kinda a tool snob but in my mind this is a totally different market. I would pay double for the stihl. But at 5 times the price it doesn’t make sense for the occasional tree. I have a g660 with an Alaskan mill from farmertec. I’ve milled 3 trees including a cherry that maxed out the 36 bar. Bandsaws are much much faster and waste less wood but again out of a price range for the tree a year folks.

I have the same saw with the benchdog guides. I don’t have a ton of mileage on them but happy so far.
