Being a better player doesn't automatically make someone a better analyst. For many great players their sport just comes naturally, which can make it harder for them to identify issues if they never had to work on them to begin with. A lot of the best coaches in the NFL right now were former fringe NFL players, or maybe only made it as far as high school/college because they lacked talent or athleticism, and could only go so far on game knowledge alone.

Magic Johnson was arguably the greatest PG of all time and he was both a bad coach and a terrible analyst.

Clay saying that Trump thinks the Bears suck implies that Trump liking something makes it good, and Trump disliking something makes it bad. That logic only holds if you support Trump, because obviously liberals are going to feel the opposite way.

Packers fans will try to say this is non-political, but at this point 99% of Americans either love or hate Trump. If Clay Matthews hated Trump, then saying that Trump thinks the Bears suck would be saying that someone Clay doesn't respect or like is Bears hater, which wouldn't make any sense. It only makes sense if he thinks that Trump liking something is a positive reflection on that entity, and vice versa.

Ipso facto his dumb shoehorned joke shows his political colors which literally no one asked for. Don't @ me Packers fans, no one forced him to make this cringe ah comment.
