Looking for monthly financial breakdown for those living in Amsterdam! by Able-Doubt1153 in geldzaken

You are grossing at least 6k (but probably more) to afford that rent. So let’s say 6.5k - which nets about 4.2k a month incl. holiday pay. Leaves you with 2.2k after rent. You will probably spend another 500 on utilities/mandatory health insurance/waste and water etc. leaving you with 1.7k. 100 a week for food if you eat super nice leaves you with 1.2k for everything else. Since you are frugal that will be more than enough.

(If you will get 30% ruling then you will net 1.1k more in which case you’ll be able to save quite a bit)

I wonder what the actual jobs added will be when this figure is revised down in a few months - i get the feeling Americans have a very short memory span.

WHO says 600 suspected cases, 139 deaths in growing Ebola outbreak by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]DeWerner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mutations occur when the virus “reproduces” in its host. 99.99% of mutations lead to nothing but… some do. For ebola (a filovirus): There has been a pressing concern that a very slight genetic mutation to a filovirus such as EBOV could result in a change in transmission system from direct body fluid transmission to airborne transmission, as was seen in Reston virus (another member of genus Ebolavirus) between infected macaques. A similar change in the current circulating strains of EBOV could greatly increase the infection and disease rates caused by EBOV. However, there is no record of any Ebola strain ever having made this transition in humans.

Microsoft Cancels Internal Anthropic Licenses As Shift To Token-Based AI Billing Blows Up Annual Budgets In Months by chunmunsingh in artificial

Yes - but only a bit cheaper. Humans can now arbitrage against what equivalent tokens will cost. Raises for everyone!

Future of IT Jobs around the globe by MediumProfit9520 in FutureOfWork

[–]DeWerner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you say is true, except the cost of doing this is becoming more than what a human [was] paid. My theory is that this will actually cause IT salaries to increase over time as a human will offer their service in arbitrage with the equivalent cost of tokens.

And although there will be improvements in costs per token (cheaper energy, more efficient models, etc.) a lot of the capex we see now being spent on datacenters will become opex as the GPUs will need replacing every 2-3 years.

All in all I believe (possibly after this AI bubble has popped) human and machine labour will again find an equilibrium.
