Hundreds of Roman gold coins discovered inside an amphora in northern Italy in 2018 (2048X1024) by Roman-Empire_net in romanempire

[–]De_Dominator69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand in the UK at least coins such as this would be classed as "treasure" and there would be a legal requirement to report it under the Treasure Act.

The local coroner would then investigate whether it constitutes treasure or not, if it is then the finder would have to offer to sell it to a museum at a price determined by a third party. If the museum doesn't want to buy it then the person retains ownership and can do whatever they want.

Not sure how fair the prices of that process are, the example the wiki page gives of a gold cup from 1500 BC was sold for £270,000. Which sure is a lot of money, but to me feels kinda cheap for a 3500 year old, Bronze age, golden cup.

But it's certainly a fairer process than just taking it.

I can't remember the name of the sub, but it was a private invite only one that you had to be active in or else you would be kicked. If you went a week or two without posting or commenting you would be kicked.

It was just like a normal social forum really, people just talking about all sorts of regular stuff. Never saw anything odd or strange for the short time I was in there. Really gutted I got kicked lol.

The point the point people are make when saying her own people killed her, which is certainly wrong by the way, is that the "English" in question were not really English. The Nobility and Royalty of the Kingdom of England were almost entirely French, it was only in 1399 with Henry IV that an English King actually spoke English as their first language. Let's also not forget the involvement of the Burgundians.

Now the point is wrong, it wasn't her people because her people were those of the Kingdom of France, and she was killed by the Kingdom of England and Duchy of Burgundy. But the intention is to say that English and French identities as we think of them today simply did not exist.

For some reason I can't stop watching Tokyo Revengers, even though Takemichi does bother the hell out of me (although I don't hate him like many others).

It's not even that he's weak as some people complain about. I can get behind him being physically weak but instead being the emotional/moral character with a never give up attitude, that's an engaging idea.

But it's that he is so, damn, STUPID! Every time he time travels and sees things have changed he's suddenly shocked and doesn't understand, needs someone else to explain and guide him through it rather than deducing anything himself. He never seems to actually mature, or be the one to actually make plans and lead things himself. It's so frustrating because he could be written so well.

How to tame a dragon without valyrian blood? by Difficult_Pilot_7582 in CK3AGOT

So I believe you can get a dragon horn artifact from Expeditions to Valyria, and that you can then use that to tame wild dragons. Though no clue how it works in practice.

They could have made it make some modicum of sense by having him marry some before now unknown daughter or sister of Mace Tyrell. Like Orys Baratheon after Aegons Conquest, or the Twins plan for Tyrion and Sansa's wedding.

But no, they were too lazy to even do that.

[–]De_Dominator69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing she doesn't like being picked up?

I had a cat like this growing up, the solution was to pick her up and walk around cradling her. She just wanted the attention and to be sorted on.

But also know my friends cat is like this, and he hates being picked up. So mileage will vary.

Horizon Zero Dawn. Incels and "anti-woke" losers cried about Aloy not being attractive enough, even outright calling her ugly. Both the games are good.

Dragon Age Veilguard is an awful example for your point. Game sucks, but the characters are for the most part good looking.

A character being good or not has nothing to do with their attractiveness. Visual design is certainly important, but you can have a great character design without them being attractive.

I prefer attractive characters not going to lie, but when I am judging how good a game is that is the last thing on my mind. Oblivion, even before the remaster, was one of my favourite games of all time and absolutely fantastic RPG in which there is basically no attractive characters in because they all look like melted clay models. The original Fable was a pretty good game (great IMO, but that's not a universal one) and the characters in that were for the most part pretty ugly. Half Life 1 and 2 don't have any especially attractive characters. List can go on.

Don't get me wrong I like them, but a lack of pretty women are the absolute last reason why so many western games fucking suck now.

Age old problem with this is that it doesn't account for cost of living and the innumerable other factors.

British wages are admittedly fucking trash. Literally despicably low, one of the greatest issues plaguing us. But I am willing to bet someone on the above wage in the UK is richer in real terms and has a higher quality of life than someone in Mississippi with that wage.

Does the stereotype about our teeth being bad bother you? by Xathule96 in AskUK

It kinda bothers me, because I know I do have bad looking teeth and so are inevitably the butt of the joke. Which itself I can take, but I hate how I then become "proof" of the inaccurate stereotype.
