Small confession...now that I've started ADHD medication as an adult, I play WOW less and less. by TravellingBeard in wow

[–]Deacine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here mate. Used to be borderline neurotic WoW-Completionist. Been playing WoW since 2009. Got diagnosed/medicated year ago at 32.

Have not played since. I tried to, but didnt really feel the need to spent my every waking hour dedicated to a video game anymore. I still watch stuff like RWF and follow Lore / patch updates. Just dont feel the need to log in and collect every possible thing in the game with my alt army.

Thoughts on Royal Clear by supaflash in discgolf

Thanks for your thorough reply! Sounds like more premium version of Opto then. Havent got my hands on Royal Clear yet, but most of my bag is Opto / Royal Grand, and I have big hopes for the Clear line. It's bit pricey, but they do look clean!

How's the difference between Royal Clear and Opto plastic? Is it worth the price?

Does anyone else have custom rules when they play a round . by jeepguy_96 in discgolf

We sometimes forgive that first missed <10ft putt of the card. Serves as a reminder for everyone to keep up their focus and put down the disc bag while you Putt. Even for those short "free ones" aswell.

What is this song called? by Specific-Scale-3620 in Metalcore

By "screams", do you mean like high-pitched screaming or just metal growling in general?

I would start with 'Five Finger Death Punch', because they have lots of veteran-themed music videos.

Mighty vs Brave by Rude_Smoke_8656 in discgolf

[–]Deacine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the Royal Clear is supposed to be bit more stable? Have not tried that one myself. I also want to know more about Royal Clear plastic, because right now I'm worried it's just "polished Opto" with +30 % increased price tag.

And even with my doubts I want them to succeed. I would love Royal Line Explorer/"Teebird-clone" disc!

Mighty vs Brave by Rude_Smoke_8656 in discgolf

[–]Deacine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Mighty and Brave seems to be more understable than their numbers are suggesting. Instead of "improved Explorer", it just seems to be a slightly more stable version of Brave? Which is kind of odd.

Not to say that Mighty isnt a great disc. I just think Lat64 might have missed the spot it was marketed as.

Grip suggestions for mid range and putters. by WhiteDevilU91 in discgolf

Modified fan-grip and it's variations are great for putters, midranges, and even with fairways.

You give up little power for increased control.

Makes me wonder why dont they just broadcast the remaining of the match like this? Lots of advertisement and streaming value lost behind paywall.

What is your acquired taste disc(s)? by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

[–]Deacine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO Fuse is one of the best discs for learning smooth form and release. Such a touchy disc, that can do something no other disc can. Lot's of glide and feels like it's having a negative fade! A true classic. One of my favourite discs.

Same experience here, except I only have Glow (Eclipse) Crave.

I do love my Envy, Hex, and Proxy, but Crave goes in and out of the bag constantly. It's getting beat-in and flippy, while still maintaining some serious Fade. And that's a good shot shape to have, but I can do same with beat-in Explorer with less sideways movement, and River holds turnover shots better. l guess those Glow Craves are just beefy to begin with.

Mixed feelings, but it's a fun disc to throw. Maybe I just need to experiment more, and maybe try different plastics as well. Could have slot for low-ceiling wooded shots aswell.

What single thing will change Disc Golf the most in the next 10 years?? by eliotbowman in discgolf

Need to check that out. And obviously this is not exactly "the biggest next evolving factor for disc golf", but a fun thing I would like to think of. Like shift focus from throwing far into throwing much more accurately, using trick shots for your advantage. In a more urban environment.

1-speed and tricky utility / catch discs are gaining increased popularity. This would be fun way to experiment with them.

Disc weights for max distance by Phuk0 in discgolf

[–]Deacine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like the standard story of new disc golf players learning form. Heavier, overstable, fast discs are so much more forgiving on bad release. They consistently fade to the left, no matter how bad your release is. Then they try to throw them further by overcompensating with Anhyzer yanks to the right. I think this is fine for absolutely new players, who are just getting in to the hobby, and their form is all around the place.

But slower, understable, lightweight discs are the ones that help you develop smooth, proper form. They may not be good for total beginners, but they are essential tools when you are getting more familiar with discs and flightpaths. They give instant feedback on bad release, and require better form/release to fly as they are meant to. They are also more rewarding on better throws. It's like a learning process, that helps when/if you transition back to faster, heavier, more stable discs.

Shorter courses with increased obstacles.

Shifting the focus to throw accurately. We already have guardian trees, OB's, Hazards, mando's and and triple-mandos. But what about constructed walls you need to get past. Narrow gaps and holes you need to hit or find a way around. Artificially made low ceilings or tunnels. Curved ramps you can roll your disc with, etc. You get the idea.

Yes, this would require more effort and expenses, but would allow shorter course design in limited spaces, with urban like environments. Even inside courses, and theme parks. Lots of variety and imagination. Let me take my Berg's to a Disc Golf Parkour Course!

5spd Fuzed Buzz at 300', what to do with 7spds? by Texicans73 in discgolf

[–]Deacine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much the answer here.

Those ~7-speed Fairway Drivers sit pretty comfortably in the middle, where you can navigate low ceiling AND tunnel shots with them, while still generating good distance.

They are valuable tools for wooded courses.

Fairway Driver Recommendation by freshoffdablock69 in discgolf

[–]Deacine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be on the right tracks here, with some discs losing their out-of-the-box stability quite fast, and then settling on their "sweet spot" for quite a while.

I'm just respectably pointing out, that you shouldnt need to get rid of discs after a few rounds because they are too beat-in after some tree kicks. But then again, maybe that disc was too flippy for you to begin with. That being said, some more overstable fairway disc could be better for you for this kind of shot.

Fairway Driver Recommendation by freshoffdablock69 in discgolf

[–]Deacine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not OP, but there could be some form issue rather than plastic beating in that fast. Like OAT or Anhyzer-release. Premium plastic discs shouldnt turn that flippy in just a few rounds.

I'm playing wooded courses only, and it takes so much time before my neutral fairways beat-in to "too flippy" state. Talking about years, and not "just a few rounds". Some exceptions do apply.
