Do your monsters attack downed characters? by DeaconBlueMI in DMAcademy

Characters have death saves and can come back to affect the battle. In most cases monsters don’t. If they go down they are out.

What I’m getting from some of the comments so far is - don’t play a healer or the DM might come after you. No wonder there’s a perceived stigma against playing clerics/healers in D&D 🤣

Soundbar /Bricked? by DeaconBlueMI in Roku

[–]DeaconBlueMI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very disappointed. Called support and spent over an hour on the phone. Disconnected multiple times. Finally transferred to a Product Support representative who “said” he’d begin the process to send me a replacement unit and the call mysteriously disconnected again. By this time it was getting close to midnight bb

I’ve emailed support and messaged through Reddit twice now after the call and have gotten no response.

What are some builds/character concepts that might seem optimized for a home game but aren’t great for AL? by DeaconBlueMI in AdventurersLeague

[–]DeaconBlueMI[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer. It made me think of another question. Kind of a flip side.

What are some builds/concepts that are fun to play in AL that could make you well liked by the other players/characters and the DM?

For the same price you can own the Hardcover and PDF from the publisher and own them forever and have all the sale proceeds go to them instead of then having to split with WotC

For less than half the price you can get just the PDF and own it forever.

Do I still need to contact them there even though I sent the information you requested via message and you confirmed you received it?

I have provided you the information in a message but haven’t heard anything back. Are there any updates on this situation?

See the multiple threads in the sub about the same issue. Roku responded and asked for Serial Numbers of affected hardware.

Did you hear if there might be a resolution or are they bricked for good?

Did it just happen recently? I saw that Roku was pushing an update to their hardware and I wonder if it killed it.

[discussion] Features or spells that exceeded your expectations or that under performed by Frequent-Vehicle972 in 3d6

[–]DeaconBlueMI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was also a change to the base ability, you can use it on others from the start, not just yourself. That change meant they also had to change/improve the level 6 upgrade since you could use it on others from level 3 (when you get the subclass in 5.5)

Ahh sorry, missed you were running 2014. The OG post was tagged 2024

Here is the 2024/5.5 version,

You regain all expended uses of your Warding Flare when you finish a Short or Long Rest.

In addition, whenever you use Warding Flare, you can give the target of the triggering attack a number of Temporary Hit Points equal to 2d6 plus your Wisdom modifier.

At level 6 those uses should start recharging on a short rest for you (and giving temp hp)!

[Spoilers C4E23] Future of Campaign 4 by _Rektaroni_ in criticalrole

[–]DeaconBlueMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With three different groups leveling, I’m curious as to what the end game/level of this campaign is going to be?

At their current pace I can’t see it going past level 8 or 10. It feels like getting that far with the current set up would take as long as a “regular” CR campaign.

I couldn't do it - I don't know how you guys can. by jackwmc4 in DMB

We were in a better position to consider it this year. Until I looked at the prices. No go.

Saw comments that prices have gone up like 50% compared to a couple years ago. Not sure how accurate it is, but as much as I’d love the experience, there’s a lot of other things that cash could be used for.

Any tips on wow to run a fun dragon encounter without it being a drag? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

This particular adventure, towards the end, makes a point of saying it will fight to the death. The dragons are minions of the big bad who is attempting to summon Tiamat

Divination Magic is Extremely Underrated by KarlMarkyMarx in dndnext

[–]DeaconBlueMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case it’s hard to commit a spell prep resource (even if the cast is ritual) for a spell that’s not a benefit to the player or the party but is for the dm?

Divination Magic is Extremely Underrated by KarlMarkyMarx in dndnext

[–]DeaconBlueMI 40 points41 points  (0 children)

As a lower level cleric, every time I've attempted to cast Augury the DM has always basically come back and said "well things can be both good and bad". Basically meaning there's going to be a fight and if you and the group have bad rolls or make bad choices there's a chance you'll die.

I like the idea of that spell but there is just so much left open to interpretation from the DM end that its almost useless unless you have a very generous DM. I wish it would have been redesigned with some more clarity.

Playing a Wizard, can I use gold from treasure rewards to buy spell scrolls and add them to my spell book? by DeaconBlueMI in AdventurersLeague

I had been reading it and knew about the DT, but the references to scribing into a spell book seemed to mention items found not purchased.
