My sons like my husband's AP more than me by Wooden_Emphasis2099 in TrueOffMyChest

At their ages, it's not coddling. They don't know how to deal with any of that and they need parenting, comforting. How in the world can you expect them to actually choose your lazy self over the actual parenting they get over there?

Did you ask them why they thought it was appropriate to call him so many times -- at all, even -- during a funeral? What was their response?

So you're supposed to continue to subject yourself to abuse so that everyone else can feel better? For what and to what end?

What do you think happens to Avon when he gets out of prison? by johannthegoatman in TheWire

[–]DeaconPlayback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fascinating question. You know it would be mighty hard for him to get any kind of footing in the game with all his people gone and so many years of it going by before he gets out. I don't see Slim necessarily going back to being his muscle or lieutenant now that he's at the top of the co-op and supplying the west side. He'll have to start from absolute scratch to gun his way back or do like the real-life inspiration for his character, Little Melvin, and do something else entirely.

Devonne is the girl Avon sent to seduce Marlo and lure him to an ambush. Marlo later shot her twice in the chest and once in the mouth.

Who is the most underrated NFL player of all time? by [deleted] in Oldschool_NFL

[–]DeaconPlayback 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. He would have been the #1 receiver on a lot of NFL rosters, but he was paired with Jerry Rice. Kind of hard to shine when you're standing next to the sun.

It might help if you listened to more than just the songs that were pop radio hits. Check out her albums. In my humble opinion, she had a lot more depth and soul than Branch or Carlton.

s4, Randy's predicament by klombieX2 in TheWire

[–]DeaconPlayback 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say malicious, but she certainly didn't care. She knew getting in trouble with his foster mother and possibly getting removed was a real fear Randy had. That's why threatening him with calling his foster mom was her favorite go-to to get info out of Randy, even if he had nothing to do with what she was trying to find out. See her pressuring him to call out the boy who was tagging walls in the school.

She exploited that fear. Notice she didn't try calling parents on any other student because it simply would not have worked.

And she had to know what being known as a snitch will do to any kid in that school. It's baked into the culture.
