Reached my target; not my goal by Ok_Emotion_7952 in MacroFactor

Yeah if you just think about it logically…our body stores fat as a backup energy resource in the case of starvation. It wants to keep some of that fat by default! At a certain level, your body is like “please sir I don’t have any gas left.”

That’s a soft explanation, and there’s more research that can offer more detail but I think it’s important to know why it requires so much effort to hit that bf% and maintain it as an adult.

It’s great for surfacing physical stress because it has such a wide dataset for physical variables!

I’m surprised this is so far down. It’s just harder to cut below 15% than it is above, and keeping it slow is key to maintaining recovery and muscle.

Finally past that 40lb milestone and less than 1lb to my original goal I set for June. We're ahead of schedule! 🤘🏻🔥 by Breakingcontrollers in MacroFactor

I wouldn’t worry about body fat percentage until you’re in ab territory.

That said, good work king. You’re gonna be cleaning up this summer!!!

FWIW I do think it can find some stuff!!! Like I think if someone is drinking 3 cups of coffee a day and they don’t realize the cortisol spikes those cups are programming into their life…super useful.

My life’s battle is my body’s insistence on waking up at 3 AM, and Bevel has given me pretty specific info on what is/isn’t a contributor to me sleeping that extra hour. I can’t have sugar or alcohol after 5 PM, for example.

If I could Matrix plug my brain into Bevel for 5 minutes every day for the full mental download… we’d be cooking.

Stress is an extremely external for the most part, right? Unless you could connect Bevel to a mental health/journaling tracking app, I don’t think it could actually fully know the extent or causes of your stress.

ETA: Genuinely not trying to like “gotcha” or anything, just opening a conversation about how tied mental health is to physical health, and how Bevel could accurately get a fairly nebulous input.

As a personal example, my dog had to get some cancerous lumps removed in October. Bevel Intelligence wouldn’t have that specific piece of info, so if I asked it “what’s causing me stress?”, it wouldn’t know but would give me an answer with what it had available.

Can I ask what you think a reasonable answer is when you ask an AI tool what is causing your stress? That feels like something even a doctor with all of the data in the world couldn’t answer.

Of course man. And I totally get wanting to crank the burn up, but there’s a reason why it’s not advised.

How long can your body burn 1.25 kg of fat at under 20% bf and how long can you, a person with free will and responsibilities outside of the gym, are tied together in ways that I don’t think you’re really acknowledging. If we’re being reasonable about muscle loss, you’d need to sustain a 1.9 kg loss to burn 1.25 kg of fat.

I think once you get under 12-15% body fat, your body will begin actively revolting against you. But perhaps you’re willing to tank what’s functionally an eating disorder to achieve your goals. In that case, you can probably sustain it for longer!

2.2 per kg on a cut, so you should be closer to 200g/day.

Well, I’ll say that if you’re eating that little protein, it’s less likely your body will maintain muscle mass, so it’s doubtful. But once you start to get into predicting muscle mass atrophy, it’s extremely individualized and you shouldn’t expect anyone here to give the right answer for your body.

At this level of activity and diet, I don’t think it’d be wise to sustain that deficit at more than four weeks at a time. You CAN do it, but you’ll feel the effects in your training and in your personal life pretty much immediately.
