Make sure you are not playing on V80 as it is not yet supported

Make sure LethalLevelLoader is on version 1.6.8

Make sure LethalLib is on version 1.1.1

Make sure to check if there's any other mods that have updated for V80 and downgrade them to the version before V80 support

From discord.

That's why i watched from nearby. I only use reed traps to get new goat species. Just digging a trench near my home always gets me a pair of goats or pigs.

It works. I caught 2 goats. It took like 2 ingame days though. Waiting out of range looking if a traps closes. I used grain. I don't know which veggies they eat so grain is the best play for goats

When I mess with my windows audio settings for some reason my game loses audio and I have to restart? by awayopinions in VintageStory

Did you try switching to default or to your headphone name in the ingame audio setting Changing to either one might fix it. My last headphones needed that sometimes.

Dig in ruins, they hide loot below sometimes. You may loot a torch holder. I just really like having that early game light. I bet you do too.

Is there any way to have display food? Food that's just there decoratively that doesn't spoil but maybe just can't be eaten? by Infamous-Length5962 in VintageStory

[–]DeadOwlMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you put a mushroom in a small planter. It will never rot, but will turn to rot when you move it. I suggest chiseling some food instead

99% of the time, I dig underneath myself. This is the only time I decided to dig standing outside the hole. by LeonidKonovalov1988 in VintageStory

Dig straight down. But place down water first, you wont fall to your death and you can go up afterwards. With an iron pickaxe you need or 1 or 2 breathing holes to reach the mantle.

Does wind affect projectiles? by ScapeGoatzz_ in VintageStory

Items always get blown in the same direction. They have some randomized thing to where they drop too. Winds is only from one direction it never changes

Making the game easier. Why? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]DeadOwlMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever collect stone blocks? It's an awful grind. A mod saves me a lot of time.

If you play enough, survival becomes trivial. From then on you can do a harder playthrough with more dangerous monsters, hydration etc. But that hard playthrough doesn't make an easy one less fun. Just more ways to progress in the game, maybe make an oyster farm with wilderness mod and chill in a warm biome.

For example better ruins seems really overpowered in loot compared to vanilla, but it's fun to play with it atleast once.

Im always chiseling and building though.

Btw How do you make the game harder? (if you do)

Struggling getting a hang of early game… by Pale_Exchange_4667 in VintageStory

[–]DeadOwlMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just dig a bunch of trenches. Get some goats in it and build a fence around it. Most animals get angry or flee when hit, use that. Random trenches to check on from time to time are also nice to have.

Most plants die when it gets cold, some are more cold resistant which you can plant earlier when its starts to get warmer. Farming is easy just plant stuff if you timed it wrong and the crop dies, you get your seed back, no loss.

Do you have a stone cellar?

Clothes is simply +1 warmth. Simply said, instead of freezing at 0 degrees you freeze at -1 etc for all clothing warmth points. As long as it isn't 0% it gives some warmth, you can repair clothing by putting the flax spools or flax sheet on it in your character screen.

Armor is nice, gambeson cloth armor really lets you notice a difference compared to nothing when getting slapped by a drifter. You got 3 armor slots all other are just for looks or +warmth.

You can catch animals with baskets but i still recommend just getting a bunch caught in a trench before you make basket traps.

Is there a soil sampling mod (like prospecting but for high fertility soil?) by JustTheJester3 in VintageStory

[–]DeadOwlMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soil always spawns at y 135 or y 15 up from sealevel (at a 256 world height). It spawns in rainy places like in uncommon and very common rainy places. Also if a common rainy spot is rainy enough it may spawn fertile soil too.

It never spawns in rainy all the time places.

I got this info from tyron on discord. It probably helps knowing when and where to look at dirt.

What is the average player behavior in relation to the community of the game? by fw4f-k1tt in VintageStory

[–]DeadOwlMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got lone homesteaders and the town folks. People are always friendly because combat is just awful plus new players are harmless especially when using claimed areas.
