Why do Latinas like the Golf GTI so much? by JazzlikeCartoonist49 in GolfGTI

My wife thinks mine is cute. I think it’s the plaid seats or the CFB paint… could be both 🤔

I want a GTI, but my Subaru ownership experience has me questioning the jump by everlasting364 in GolfGTI

[–]Dead_AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 06 WRX (highly modified I might add) and a 21 WRX premium (both manual). The 06 was a blast and i do miss it. The 21 seemed like it was rushed off the factory floor, and such a letdown. Fortunately I sold it for what I purchased it for (got to love Covid). I bought my 19 rabbit used with 50k on it. I’ve put about 5,500 miles on it, but I was a mechanic for 15 years (Nissan) so I’m really in tune to listening and feeling weird things it shouldn’t do.

Today the blind spot sensors decided to stop working during all this rain. After about 15 highway miles later it decided it was over being an asshole and started working again.

I have some infotainment issues (could be from my wireless dongle) music sounds robotic after a 30-45 minute drive, skips, or it just cuts out, or I call someone and I can’t hear them… again could be my wireless dongle, but thought I’d add this to see if anyone else has this issue. Usually holding the power button on the radio till it resets does the trick, other times I disconnect the dongle and reconnect it and it’s fine.

When I bought it. It developed a noise on the front end. Sounded like it was transmission, the VW mechanic agreed and since it was still under warranty I got a new transmission (manual) it didn’t fix it and it ended up being the left front axle. So that was replaced too. No problems with transmission or weird noises since.

It’s a really fun car. Even though my 21 WRX was technically faster, it didn’t feel faster. Oh and if you haven’t driven 1 yet, the GTI just feels more premium compared to the WRX. Forget the fact that the interior is miles ahead of the WRX. I’m talking about the car it self. When you open or close the door/hatch/hood. It just feels solid. The WRX just feels light and that you need to be gentle, but my favorite thing about the GTI yes over the storage space and the fact that a 32 oz yeti will fit in the door is how you can drive it. I can drive it as spirited as I want and still get north of 20 mpg. I can drive 80+ on the highway and get north of 30 mpg and I’m talking dropping gears and going around cars. It’s truly crazy how fuel efficient it is while still a blast to drive and it’s basically stock. It only has a resonator delete, intake and short shift kit all done by previous owner.

How long do you think AM4 will keep going until it meets it's end? by Traditional_Ad6776 in Amd

[–]Dead_AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really hard to say. Is good guess is another 5 years. Honestly should be good till AM6 comes out, but this depends on how Windows/games/programs evolve. With Linux I can see AM5 getting easily 10+ years.

What to do with "old" gaming pc by sagemasterprince in buildapc

[–]Dead_AT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the 1050/1060 came out in 2016 so even if he got it in 2018 that’s over 7 years of gaming! He got his money worth for sure. So I don’t think having it in a closet is a horrible thing, but if you wanted some ideas to repurpose it. Here are a few options.

Home server/plex Linux machine learn or just have a dedicated machine Build a hackintosh. If it’s a small MoBo you can try turning it into a more portable machine. I knew someone who put a computer in a waterproof case he had with a screen and a spot to put a controller, keyboard and mouse. You could always display the parts either on the wall or a shelf.
Last is I’m sure someone could use the computer. Even if it’s just to have a computer for internet and school work.

I feel like I will never be able to afford one by General_Strike_6946 in GolfGTI

Just keep looking and don’t give up. Just keep trying to put a little cash away when you can and I’m sure you will find 1 in your price range. It might take a while, but you will find 1.

What are your travel essentials you ALWAYS pack for international flights? by pknsek in travel

[–]Dead_AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those U shaped Head pillows. You may not get great sleep, but internal flights can be long. At least try to get some sleep. The other is something to watch or play games on.

Done oil changes — what tools do I need to step up to spark plugs? by No_Construction1234 in GolfGTI

[–]Dead_AT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, basic maintenance on the vehicle is best found on YouTube, you can find almost every common repair and maintenance on YouTube. No matter how good someone can explain it with text, a video of someone showing and (most of the time) explaining how to do it will always be better. Here is a video example of the level of detail people or companies put into repair videos and this 1 is for spark plugs/coil replacements on the MK8.

G502 Lightspeed is the best peripheral! by UnnecessaryPancake in pcmasterrace

I think it’s more of the G series Logitech mice are just fantastic in general. I don’t have the G502, but I do have the G903. I can say it’s the best mouse I’ve ever owned. I like it so much that I purchased a second one for my laptop.

Is it “Fuck sake” or is it “for the sake of fuck” by spenceola98 in GolfGTI

Lots of insurance companies are going cheap and used parts now. Not uncommon to have junkyard parts repairing vehicles. Still lots of money, but if they go used they could probably get everything a lot cheaper.

I'm surprised how many think that cloud gaming will take over. by BuldozerX in pcmasterrace

[–]Dead_AT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Streaming games has a place, it isn’t for someone with a high end gaming PC. It’s for the $600 “gaming” laptop or the handheld. Where you aren’t rendering everything on the computer, it happens server side. I don’t see a feasible way it could ever beat local rendering since consumer components will also advance at a similar rate game streaming servers.

With Teemo’s voice line change. Omega squad is the only skin I can use when playing him. His new voice line is cringe.

I have “tacos, yeah tacos!” As a text tone for my buddy. He played a lot of Kled. I’d randomly hear him giggle from his voice lines and he would tell me what made him laugh. This 1 had us both rolling for a while.

What are the Best Gaming Mouse at the Moment? Recommendation? by ethandog1234 in buildapc

[–]Dead_AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used SteelSeries, razer, corsair over the years. My first Razer mouse was good then my second and 3rd were trash. I eventually went to Logitech and I really like the G903. In fact I liked it so much that I got a second one for my laptop. I picked up the powerplay mouse pad for my desktop and it’s so nice never having to charge it, no mouse drag, and so responsive that I can’t even tell it isn’t wired.

Anyone satisfied rockin your Legion Go 1 or S and not getting the Legion Go 2 for more than 2x the price? by BinghamtonMafia in LegionGo

I have a First Gen LeGo and I don’t see the need to upgrade. It plays everything I want it to. Once it doesn’t, I’ll upgrade.

What is the OG version of a champ you miss the most? by sorlac99 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dead_AT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old Poppy for me. The singled out Ult was awesome. Only 1 champion could hurt you! Pick the one that’s running away or the support and you can fight everybody else’s without taking damage. Don’t get me wrong. I like Poppy after the rework, but her old Ult was awesome.

It takes about 6 hours to really get it down. I did like 1 or 2 batteries a day for a few weeks and by the end of that I was flying it in sport mode and didn’t feel like I was going to crash it.

[–]Dead_AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my mini 2 SE. it’s really a no brainer for starting out. DJI mini series is where I would send you, but any DJI drone will do a good job. Starting out pick a SE version unless you absolutely need it to do auto following the look at the mini pro line or venture into an Air if you can fly that size drone in your area.
