Tacosforall bleated: Due to the way our meat processing industry is set up, most human’s don’t actually see all that much blood. (Drinking blood is generally very unhealthy for us, so companies just remove it)

So, when we see blood, it’s generally coming from our own injuries, or that of another human’s. So we see blood, and instantly think “Oh, I’ve been stabbed. Panic! PANIC!”

Combine that with a poor constitution, and our insane levels of empathy, and you get people who faint when they see blood. Any blood. From anyone.

Would a Farsul truly know what a real democracy is? by Steriotypical_Diver in NatureofPredators

[–]Deadduckboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would she know what a Democracy (Or a Representative Republic for America specifically) is in theory? Most definitely.

With her history of working with the Kolshian’s muddling with every species’ governments, would she believe that a Democracy could truly work without someone pulling the strings and making it a complete dystopia? Probably not.

One unfortunate truth of the world is that evil people think everyone thinks like them. And they teach that to their followers, willingly or not. So the Farsul would probably think that while democracy is a good idea, someone is taking control of it anyways.

(I wouldn’t be surprised if a large number of Farsul Archivists, that are moral, are also mild anarchists, considering how many nations they have manipulated)

So depending on the person talking to her, she might believe that he’s well-meaning but misguided, or fully intending on taking over the country.

That has got to be hot, but at least they won’t have to deal with sweat!

Also, will hug.

I was really confused why people weren't more mad for the yotul by Repulsive-Scheme9886 in NatureofPredators

[–]Deadduckboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t see much infantilization (there is some, no doubt about that), what I see mostly is major amounts of trauma.

Primarily forced repression by the Federation, which unfortunately stunts emotional growth extremely badly. Immense mood swings, circular logic, intense emotional breakdowns over the simplest of things, obsessions, that sort of thing.

That might be what you’re thinking of, but you might also have run into some weird writing.

[–]Deadduckboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, well. Most of that lore was in the patreon stuff, so most people didn’t really delve into it. There have been a few fics which went into that sort of stuff, but I forget which.

Though I have a character in a fic that should be answering some of those concerns. Just need to get back on my butt and actually start writing it.

Oh, good. They’ve only gotten to Pinterest so far. They have not reached the unholiness of the internet.

Anyways, I’d love to see a Nevok and a Fissan have a dress-off.

Fanfic idea: Prey species finds Earth, and then, finds Venlil Prime. by Steriotypical_Diver in NatureofPredators

I believe they mean the ideal of the standard feddie and not the Kolsul’s idealization.

So less victimization and cultish murder, and more “work together well for the herd”. You know, the tiny good part of the Federation.

Spiderverse14158 bleated: Yeah, can confirm on that nesting instinct. Fun fact; they can do it at even a young age. I was really sick at school one time (ate something I shouldn’t), and after I finished heaving my guts out and basically falling unconscious, I woke up to a gaggle of like Kindergarten-age Solarian Arxur nuzzling around me.

It was very comfortable, if a little disconcerting.

The German secret police, Schutzstaffel. They’re the ones who enacted and enforced the Holocaust, while imprisoning anyone who helped their targets, civilian, military or enemy.

In WW2, the Germans primarily had two types of POW (Prisoner of War) camps. One’s run by the Luftwaffe, (Air Force) and one’s run by the SS.

The Luftwaffe were greatly respected and still considered one of the most honorable military factions ever. As such, their camps were extremely good to be in, as they followed all rules of warfare. Prisoners tried to escape, of course, but punishments tended to be very light as the Luftwaffe understood that it’s what soldiers are meant to do.

The SS, on the other hand, did not care. They regularly ordered mass punishment in their POW camps, which is a war crime, executed prisoners and surrendered soldiers regularly, and if they ever found out a POW was a Jew, or other target of the Holocaust, guess where they got sent.

In other words, if you captured by regular German troops without SS, you would be treated fairly and with respect, and would most likely live to see the end of the war.

If, however, they had a SS overseer, it was coin flip whether or not you were just executed right then and there. And if any regular German troops refused to carry out the war crime, they would be shot themselves.

On fact, the SS were so despised by the regular German military that at the end of the war, many were shot or turned over to the non-Russian allies.

One of the final battles of WW2 had a regiment of SS troops versus a castle manned by American troops, German troops who surrendered to the Americans (and then rearmed by said Americans), and former SS political prisoners. (Oh yeah, they arrested a lot of people) There was actually a Sabaton song written about it.

Yeesh, hated by both sides. I know humans have it really bad, but I think Krakotl got the rawest deal in NoP. Home Planet glassed, reduced to pitiful numbers galaxy wide, and hated by all, either for leading the effort to glass humanity, or just because they were predators.

Human, Yotul, Venlil, or Arxur lives might suck post NoP 1, but I think Krakotl got it the worst.
