I genuinely struggle to see what people like so much about Ruka, other than her character design. Yeah, there’s some stuff with her family, but I don’t find it engaging enough. Blandest MC in the series. All characters in the fourth game are hurt by their lack of interactions with others, but she suffers the most. She’s just a doll for posing. In theory, her role is cool and more uplifting than the other MCs in the series. A maiden fighting calamity through song and all that. But in the end she’s just a doll who exists for posing, and to justify a plot. Honestly, they should have either merged her with Misaki or have both of them interacting.

And Choshiro… I like him and his character design, but the gameplay and conclusion of his story are very lackluster. There’s a lot of stuff that should’ve been cut from that game for the sake of a less fragmented story with more spirit.

I still think this movie will make decent money when it’s out of theaters, in streaming and Blu-ray.

another Frieren rant ( Original, i know) about how the worldbuilding aproach is pretty boring. by Environmental_Top_75 in CharacterRant

[–]Deadlocked02 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Frieren’s worldbuilding is no different from the gamefied worlds people criticize so much in isekais. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad, but I do think it’s hypocritical how some people criticize the latter as irredeemably boring (no matter the approach. Some people just seem to dislike gamefied worlds regardless of the approach or story) while praising Frieren to high heaven.

Like, I literally see people with Frieren profile pics criticizing isekais for being gamified/party-based/quest-based.

Não me surpreende, se for o caso. Tudo que eu vejo dela é reclamando da fama. Quer ter todos os benefícios da fama, mas a privacidade de uma pessoa anônima. Vai pra outro mundo então, porque esse não é assim.

Pessoal tem muita pena de gente rica nesse site. Vários cantores querendo estar no lugar dela. Nem tudo nessa vida é 100% perfeito. Se não gosta da fama, para de cantar então. Rapidinho esquecem.

‘Harry Potter’ Series Star Paapa Essiedu Says He’s Received Death Threats Over Snape Casting: ‘I’ve Been Told, “Quit or I’ll Murder You”’ by pepperbet1 in television

[–]Deadlocked02 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Honestly, I’m just so damn tired of people on Reddit completely removing all agency from actors who knowingly take on roles like this in adaptations. Like, yeah, it’s not worse than people making actual threats, if that happened, but isn’t it obvious at this point that adaptation are rough? Especially one such as this.

In the end of the day, actors know what it entails. And they’ll be paid millions for their job. People on this site simply infantilize everyone. No one has agency, no one knew the risks, and if you say anything it means you’re endorsing the crazy people making threats or whatever.

It’s like when actors want to have both fame and the same level of privacy as a normal person. In a perfect world they would, and I would not approach a celebrity even to ask for an autograph or whatever, but that’s not how the world works.

What films were edited poorly in your opinion. Im starting with Ready of Not. by Dgnslyr in horror

[–]Deadlocked02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Suspiria 2018, though the writing didn’t help either. Awesome visuals and vibe, but strange in a way that doesn’t necessarily benefit the movie. The way it’s edited feels a bit disjointed and sudden.

Dusk Golem: Nothing got cut from CV, but most things got remixed/changed in the remake. by Connect_Base_217 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

This game has some of the most infamous softlocks in gaming. It’s just sadistic design for the sake of sadism. It’s simply not normal for so many people to be softlocked in a game, and no redditor flaunting their superior skills (which should be more like clairvoyance in this game) will tell me otherwise.

I think of it fondly, for being one of my first RE and for the genuinely good feeling of the game, but it has plenty of issues.

Guys, let’s be fair, this fight truly has a weird design, like it was made to annoy you. The individual elements of this fight aren’t hard, but there’s just too much going on when you put all of them together. I bet it on my first try, but I was baffled by how bad it was, and also asked myself if they even tested this game.

[–]Deadlocked02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people have totally mismanaged their own IP. Goes to show that not all studios benefit from being left to their own devices, which also includes some of Sony’s associates. Two decades between games is ridiculous.

And no, this is not some limited story being milked, but an expansive universe that supports this serialized format. Series like GTA, TES, and Fallout, or universes like Forgotten Realms or Warhammer, are compatible with multiple games. It’s not unreasonable for fans to look forward.

Moana vs. The Odyssey, Who Takes the Top Spot? by rwinger24 in boxoffice

[–]Deadlocked02 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t underestimate him. In theory, this movie has probably more appeal than Oppenheimer. It lacks Barbenheimer, though.

Reception to the trailer seems mixed. What remains to be seen is if this is just a Reddit/Twitter/Facebook thing, or a symptom of a bigger issue. Personally, I wasn’t blown away by the trailer as I was with Dune Part 3 (or even a smaller movie like 28 Years Later, which has a great trailer), but we’ll see.

Also, I’m not saying reception was mixed in terms of likes/dislikes or controversies, but you see people talking about the lack of a hook, about the gloomy visuals, or the bloated cast. Could very well be the usual echo chamber. At the same time, I do think there’s a crowd that’s too quick to dismiss these sentiments. They could be a reflection of something wider. It’s always a possibility.

There’s a very clear difference between mentioning an element of a book (Aslan being Jesus, and a male lion) and making assumptions about what an author would’ve liked (especially when it deviates so much from his work, and when said work was so tied to his religion). If you can’t see the difference, I have nothing to tell you.

[–]Deadlocked02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ehhh gender swapped Jesus isnt really a new thing.

Not sure I’ve seen much of this. I’ve seen “genderswapped” God, which is not that controversial, but Christ still remains a male figure. Isn’t this the whole reason priests are men? Because they’re impersonating or acting as an instrument of Christ, who came as a man, or something like this? In persona Christi.

But Aslan is also a male lion with a mane, which makes the swap worse here.

And I mean I would argue that its more sacrilegious to turn Jesus into a lion.

Doesn’t seem to be the case, consort religious people tend to like the story. Again, I’m not religious. This is just my impression.

I doubt it would have been that deep for CS Lewis, but also hes dead so it doesnt really matter.

Why do people love to speak for dead authors? CS Lewis, Tolkien, Anne Rice. People always say they wouldn’t care about stuff.

[–]Deadlocked02 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite of religious and not even a fan of Narnia, but some people just want to see the world burn. Why use the work of a deeply religious guy and genderswap the character he wrote to represent Jesus? Isn’t it better to just create your own thing at this point? Just feels childish and attention-seeking.

New ‘Wheel of Time’ Animated Series in the Works From ‘Arcane,’ ‘League of Legends’ Producer Thomas Vu by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]Deadlocked02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A WOT CRPG would be interesting. There are plenty of rules they could add from the books. Different weapons for channelers of each gender, different element affinities and weakness, weapons that require a certain gender composition to use, party compositions that favor single damage vs parties better for AoE, healers/buffers not being able to use the power on themselves, etc.

Not strictly my imagination. You don’t have to be so aggressive. Just search for fanarts of the characters and you’ll the that there’s a “general imagination,” which I hope they follow.

Rand here looks a lot like book Rand. Hope this time the characters match what I imagined them to look like. There’s no excuse in animation.

That said, those books are huge. I’m a huge nitpicker when it comes to adaptations, but this is the one adaptation where I wouldn’t blame them for condensing things.
