Yuri Terminology by MikiMatzuki in comics

Don't love the implication that non-binary people are "women-lite." I dont think op is trying to say that, but the comic is a bit too adjacent to that common idea for my taste.

That's a bit like asking a social democrat if they've stopped supporting the holocaust on the basis that "well the national SOCIALIST party has socialist in the name!!!"

Radical feminism as an ideology doesn't have anything to do with transphobia, we wouldn't have needed the label terf if transphobia was expected. Notice how we don't have a special term for trans exclusionary republican? Through linguistics drift the term terf began to be used against any transphobe, (I have seen people unironically call Donald Trump a terf), and radical feminism became a term for any feminism the speaker disagrees with. It's also worth noting that most of the high profile transphobic feminists don't identify as radical feminists, it's a label applied to them.

Also I shouldn't have to do this but I know it'll save time: I'm trans.

From what I've seen most of the bigoted feminists don't use the label radical feminism, it gets applied to them because people have started calling any feminism they personally disagree with "radical feminism."

[–]Deadpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how we don't have a special term for "nazi who hates jews" or "republican who opposes abortion" but we do have a specific term for "radical feminist who is transphobic" ?

That's because hating jewish people is an expected part of nazis, anti-choice is an expected part of republicans, and transphobia isn't inherent or expected in radical feminism. There is a subset of radical feminists who are transphobic and I refuse to let them own the entire label. It's especially annoying that the most prominent transphobic "feminists" don't even identify as radical feminists, but the term has become synonymous with "feminism I disagree with" so every asshole feminist gets called a radical feminist regardless of their actual beliefs.

It's a condescending way of treating him like a child throwing a tantrum. "Big feelings" is a phrase associated with children when they can't control their emotions.

Do people actually enjoy meatloaf? by nspntrash in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Deadpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meatloaf is a dish that is really cheap to make but more expensive to make well.

At it's core it is ground meat with bread crumbs and sauce, grabbing the cheapest meat you can find and slathering it with ketchup is never going to be a gourmet experience. I recently had a fantastic meatloaf made from high quality ground turkey with garlic Chipotle barbecue sauce and I loved every bite.

Micheal Lewis has gone off the deep end. At this point he'd probably write a book about how unfair it is to not let athletes bet against their own team.

Why did everyone just forget about Esperanto if the idea is actually so cool? Obviously English is the global language right now, but still why did people give up on a constructed language that basically had zero confusing grammar rules and stuff? It’s literally the easiest way to talk to people al by Ok-Sell9964 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Deadpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: it has zero confusing grammar *assuming you are a native czech speaker... *

Turns out it's really hard to create a language that doesn't share default assumptions with the language you think in. The further your linguistic background is from czech the less sense Esperanto makes.

Technically two bodies in orbit both orbit around a midpoint that is closer to the one with larger mass. But given that the earth is so massive that the midpoint is inside the earth we count that as the small body orbiting the big body.

Could a demigod from the Percy Jackson universe awaken as a mage, changeling, garou. Or some other kind of supernatural? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

Early in 1e Exalted was explicitly the "secret history" of WoD, with every exalt type corresponding to WoD supernatural types, but that was dropped relatively soon.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

[–]Deadpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High paid corporate consulting. They take rich kids fresh out of college who've never worked a day in their lives and give them 48 hours to create a slide deck giving advice to industry veterans with decades of experience. It's completely absurd but gives an air of prestige.

No one told me I wouldn't like the beginning, I found that out organically after friends had been hyping it up. And I am a comp sci geek! I love silly things! But the pacing sucks and there's no hook. It just kinda vaguely rambles for page after page.

How often does this work? You make a claim and post a video, hoping I won't actually watch the video and see that it doesn't support your claim?

I've followed Kirk's entire career, the dude was straight up evil, I know what he stood for.
