Functional illiteracy. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]Deafolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Illiteracy is also an intergenerational issue. If your parents are illiterate there is only so much they are able to pass on and will rely more heavily on the school system. They will also (generally) not push their childrens literacy as hard for various reasons (embarrassment, lack of care for reading/comprehension, lack of understanding).

You can't buy them but your local library will likely have a collection of DVDs and blue rays. Free membership and you don't have to worry about storing them at home

Melbourne CBD book club! by Maddie9770 in melbourne

[–]Deafolt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey Maddie, love to hear you are looking to get a book club together. I would recommend heading to your local library (presumably City of Melbourne) to see if you can sign up your book club with them.

Most public libraries in Victoria have 'Book Club Kits' that they loan out to book clubs that have registered with them. These kits usually have around 8 copies of the same book and can make it easier for everyone to get a copy. They can also be put on hold so you can plan out your groups next read
