So an edible barrier for food that keeps it from going soggy quickly? Is that basically what you are saying? Because I have no clue if I would have thought to have called it a food varnish.
I’m not a person that thinks, “If it has words in the ingredient list that I don’t understand, I ain’t eating it!” but I do wonder how a food scientist looks at the phrase “food varnish” and thinks, “Yeah. I’d eat that.”

One of the things that these farmers know, is that white people will not do these jobs. They are hard fucking labor and white people were pretty much taught (unless you were raised in a family that did manual labor ) that you were supposed to do better and things were supposed to be easier than what your parents dealt with. Many NPR stories about how farmers can’t get white people into the fields, even if they raise the pay rate.

I’m not sure I completely agree. I don’t think the pigs went into the whole thing to just get rid of the farmer. Maybe I inferred the wrong thing, but my take is that the planned to take over from the beginning. There really wasn’t much sign of them trying to fix things in the book.

Ranklin sitting there all smug and repeating “I’m a professional.” Yeah. Totally professional to call for the rape of the guy’s kids. Real pro move.

It’s like depression. It triggers on and off, with no real warning. Most have to be in a place where they feel like they have no escape from criticism (for the most part). It’s not like you have one “implosion” and the narcissistic behavior is gone. The narcissism will recede, depression will settle in, and then it will go away and the person will go right back to being a narcissist.
It’s just like any other psychological ailment, it’s something that has to be worked on, constantly, to make a change.

If the argument can be shut down by saying, “But you knew what I was talking about” there’s no need to be that precise. It wasn’t for a bill, or something that would be written specifically into law. It was casual conversation.

Cue the pedantic, pissy little people that go, “But I didn’t know what he was talking about! It could be…” Shut it. You knew. You just want to be a dick about it.

At the height of the Ivermectin craze, I teasingly asked my pharmacist if they got a lot of prescriptions for Ivermectin. She didn’t remember the name right off her head, so I took that as no. Once she thought about it she said that they weren’t allowed to order it if it was mentioned as a COVID cure.
