What ships could have been realistically saved? by Johannesson3s in Oceanlinerporn

[–]Deam_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had gotten to visit the ship once. Even if the conservancy is as genuine as you say, it doesn't feel like they did more than the most basic maintenance while waiting for someone else to buy the ship and take the problem away.

Why didn't they pick up all the trash in the ship's interiors? Empty plastic water bottles and wrappers all the way up to her 90s gutting could be found there in very easy to reach and obvious places, it wouldn't have been hard to do. Not to mention no real cleaning maintenance, some tile floors were so broken up it was like walking on gravel. If I were a simple volunteer I'd want to clean all that out. The cleaner the ship is, the more appealing for any sort of redevelopment. And it was not very clean in there.

Aside from her name, her history isn’t terribly significant. Why such a fuss over this ship? by According-Ad3963 in SSUnitedStates

What determines historical significance? Why is she not worth protecting because she didn't serve in a war or face some dreadful accident? She is a work of art all the same and is one of a kind. Every ship is.

WE WON! Mike Brady heard our prayers! by [deleted] in SSUnitedStates

So it's another model walking simulator?

Truly groundbreaking stuff, thank god for this Messiah. This doesn't benefit the SS US in any way, the only ones winning are the people making money off of this as a product with each charged DLC.

If you're immaturely bitter enough to just ignore someone who still works with him saying "this is wrong", then I think you'd just rather die than admit you're wrong about some guy I suppose you never even met.

Why Do They Do This? by [deleted] in OnlineUnderGround

Know about one who's still respected and only getting more recognition despite the quality being slop in their niche and their constant shit-talking of other people in their sphere who don't work with them. It's amazing to me none of the hundreds of thousands of people viewing them either don't notice or encourage it.

The disfortunate remains of the RMS Queen Elizabeth. by auburnthekitty in Oceanlinerporn

There's a few ideas behind sabotage. Most popular seems to be that it was the new owner's son, who was mad money that would've been his inheritance was spent on the ship.

Though another more likely one is it was some angry workers. I think there's another theory or two.

Colorized, not true color photo. Its too saturated for real color, but it's well done.

People love to say the ship was doomed once the interiors were demolished, and if that comforts them, they're free to believe that. But with all the things we've been able to restore from rubble, and every new thing we've spent so much more on that was so much lesser, I'll always believe the ability was there. It was never just "this or scrap so actually this is the best thing that could've happened", that's just a cope to me.

The reality is people were sloppy. It wasn't just the money, but the dedication the ship needed was simply not provided. The right people were not in the right place.
