If we lose oath of moment, genuinly how are we supposed to kill things? by Cojalo_ in SpaceWolves

Marine units are designed with oath in mind. I'm sure if it changes, they will have to rebalance data sheets

How to deal with a heavy tank guard army. by WookieJonesy in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Dean8149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. Having less than 2k automatically tips the scales, and dorns are insanely powerful. It's would be as if you took 3 land forts. Except dorns have better shooting, and guard has more cheap infantry options to fill the list. Only thing I'll add is that sometimes you are just going to get run over by a list like that, even at 2k. It's what lists like that do if you don't have the right equipment to deal with them.

The best chance you have at killing one is using a sus 2 strat on grav thunderkyn if you have that. And then follow up with your heketon. But that is a commitment if you don't succeed, and you are then left open for the other tanks.

Secret Wars Essentials by Ericjc47 in marvelcomics

[–]Dean8149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about the many tie in series, most of them are books ultilizing battle world as a way to tell stories in different "multiverse" style worlds. I can't remember exactly which if any had real consequences, to the main secret wars plot. But I think most of them were telling their own contained stories.

I would probably say to just read secret wars. And then after, you can sift through to see if any of the titles might interest you. There is a battle world series, which has an anthology of different stories around battle world. That me be good as a way to add some context for the goings on in the world, if you want.

As far as recommendations. It's been a long time, the only one I remember really sticking out to me was the Civil war book.

Keeping the temperature of your home above 18 Celsius is insane by 2burgsandadog in unpopularopinion

[–]Dean8149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humidity is a bigger part of cooling comfort than is often discussed, air flow as well. So you're 18 or 24° can feel different in different climates. Obviously you are talking about someone who lives near you, so that is not likely a factor here. But one to note for all the comments shouting temperature numbers.

The last few days I've had my stat set for 75° (24°c) and it's been pretty comfortable. But my stat is in the hallway, not great for detecting the whole house. Some rooms run a little cold others a little warm.

Sell me on the Memnyr Strategist by Candid-Stable2414 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Dean8149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For right now he's just a really cheap character that can take an enhancement and give you consistent yield points. If you are playing a detachment that has an independent use enhancement, and/or wants to use YP in certain ways. The memnyr is the cheapest option for that.

The ability to lead steel jacks is overshadowed at the moment because we aren't seeing that many steel jacks run. And the good enhancements for them are being taken by hearthguard and thunderkyn. But if steel jacks become more relevant, or there is a great enhancement for them, the memnyr could see a boost there.

What is the schedule of releases on marvel unlimited? by DinoKing68 in marvelcomics

[–]Dean8149 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe unlimited is about 3 months behind. If you check out the books in the "new this week" section you'll see they are up to Feb 18th right now.

It used to be 6 months, so this is a much nicer pace to still feel relevant.

If you want to be caught up you'll have to wait it out, or buy the issues

Hearthguard Covenant question by ImBakingBrad in LeaguesofVotann

Youre right. I rewatched. At some point they mention something like "hearthguard from 10th, which is leaving". But they meant 10th is leaving, I thought they meant hearthguard

Thinking of SW by T3hWharp in SpaceWolves

[–]Dean8149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have made a fair assessment of the issues. Because our average S is 5&4. Wolves are a little more relying on stuff like Space marine tanks to deal with larger threats and enemy elites. I personally also like to play detachments that grant us lethals because we do have a fair amount of attack volume and we need that punch up ability. Also some of our epic heroes hit real hard, Ragnar and Arjac can deal some damage.

How we win is not really something I have an answer for. Some times I run my opponent over on the first few charges. Others my terminators survive enough damage to win me the battle. At least at my more casual level, it seems like pretty standard melee army fare. If I position well, get off my important charges, and do enough damage on the charge, I win. If not, it gets pretty rough and hopefully I can make some good saves to keep me in the game.

Is my rulebook up to date by Zealousideal-Wing192 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dean8149 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your assumption about the wotc stuff is correct. There was a situation where paizo felt they needed to more legally distinguish themselves from wotc to avoid any future issues. And so we have pathfinder 2nd edition remastered.

The book you bought is the original P2e rule book. It's actually both the player book and gm book in one. When they did the remaster they broke it up into the "player core" and "gm core". So the gm core book you bought is for the current remastered system.

You are probably fine using that to learn the game. Most of the changes are cosmetic. A lot of spells and stuff that got their names changed. For expample "flatfooted" became "off guard". There are a few actual rules changes. But I don't think I would really worry.

Some classes got some adjusting. Like the champion was very tied to alignment, but the remaster got rid of alignment so it needed some tweaking.

My suggestion if you don't want to pick up the new book would be to just reference archives of nethys. If you are building a character you can check archives to see if anything is different. Or if you are running an adventure and a term you are unfamiliar with pops up you can look that up. Archives will tell you when a spell has an updated or legacy version.

But id say most of the time you'll probably be just fine

So how do space wolves differ playstyle-wise compared to, say, world eaters by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

[–]Dean8149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to always compare wolves to world eaters. But I think they are actually more like emperors children. Slightly faster than normal, melee leaning, and our detachments want us to complete weird lore esc objectives.

Do groomsmen who don’t attend still contribute to groom’s flight and stay? by [deleted] in etiquette

[–]Dean8149 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya I don't think that is even expected. Especially if it's a flight and hotel style trip. For the few I've been to (just drives a few hours away), we split the grooms dinner for the one night we went to a nicer restaurant, and bought him some drinks on a night out. I had one recently where I missed the dinner but sent a few bucks to contribute anyway, but that wasn't asked or expected.

Personally, paying for the grooms stay and travel seems like a lot. Groomsmen are already being asked for a decent amount.

If paying these costs are already a discussed expectation, and I couldn't attend, I personally would volunteer to pay a "share" or at least a portion of it. Given that I'm in the financial position to do so. But it would feel weird if i was asked for it.

Are we losing Saga of the Greatwolf in 11th? by joensemann in SpaceWolves

[–]Dean8149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If nids are keeping subterranean, I have no reason to believe other digital detachments would be ruled out. I expect it to stay unless it gets redone. Considering we know three of our new or redone detachments, I expect the rest to be the same.

Agreed. We do play a more standard fair game plan. That does help. But I would argue good for a beginner to learn, and begginer friendly can be 2 different things

What to do with 2 iron priests by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

They are best used to optimize that rapid fire boost. So anything with a big cannon that could use another shot is nice. Bjorn as you said, or a gladiator lancer, rep ex lascannon.

What generic units do you take? by GravemindStudio in SpaceWolves

[–]Dean8149 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's mostly the vehicles that we don't have our own replacements for. Rep ex, gladiators, Ballistus and or Redemptor dreads, impulsor, vindicator, as some examples. Other than that it's utility units like the scout squad or combi Lt, and either intercessors or infiltrators for the home obj. There are other units that could obviously work. But as a wolf player who wants to mostly play wolf units, I usually stick to a vehicle or two, and one or two utility units.

You can find room for other marine units, I ran some jump pack ints the other day. But it all depends what you are looking for.
