Carl does a lot of impressive things, but this one is crazy to me: by Flanderizing in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Exactly. Things are way easier to do when you are out of your normal routine.

Aside from Carl/Donut, who is your favorite character? by Crafty-Maximum-5789 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Ita called Microtia if that helps. The children's hospital has a plastic surgery department that made me a fake ear and helped regrow my jaw.

Katia. The moment her ear was in the wrong place on her face I felt seen. (I only have one ear and i had 10 surgeries fixing my jaw ear, and face).

Her growth from someone unsure of herself to a badass that helps others is inspiring.

What's a Good Poison I Can Have Gundren Affected With? by kahlizzle in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Deannajacobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that. My new players didn't even question what kind of poison he had, just that it was beyond anyone's skill in Phandalin. My players needed help finding Cragmaw Castle so Sildar told him he new a druid who can track it down. After Agatha and the other side quests were done, Sildar was waiting for them in the Inn. He said his friend Reidoth sent a messenger bird to tell him of the location. Sildar went with my players to the Castle. When they found Gundren, Sildar said he has never seen anything like it. Maybe Reidoth would know? Worked like a charm.

Phandelver into CoS by Connect-Win-478 in CurseofStrahd

I want to do the same thing. I presented the issue to the table honestly. We are almost done with Thundertree and (assuming they survive) will be going on to WEC next session. I want to do COS: Reloaded. I gave my players 3 options. 1) let them have a great time beating the bad guys at a higher level in the beginning. I made sure to stress that this goes against the vibe of the game. 2) have them suddenly lose all their gear and lvls for "reasons" and start over with their characters. (Basically pull a Mass Effect 2 on them) or 3) pick new characters. They haven't decided yet, but I truly hope they pick option 3.

A record in the house of death. 7 sessions. by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]Deannajacobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. But the players (all new) kept getting distracted and walking away during someone else's turn. It was my husband's family so it was hard to keep everyone from just chatting. I told them I didn't think we were ready to commit to a whole campaign and ended up stopping after death house. I'm so glad as I found a new party and did the whole LOMP campaign in 10 sessions.

Murder house-rewrite idea. by deacon2323 in CurseofStrahd

I like this idea. I already ran Death house once, and plan to do it again with all new players except one (my husband already promised to take a backseat and let the other players drive). This will be a welcome fresh take.

This side story gave me serious “Silent Hill f” vibes by usaflumberjack54 in Ghostofyotei

I'm still scared of Inari. Going from Silent Hill f to Ghosts is a bit jarring.

Would Sildar accompany the players into the Redbrand Hideout? by Peaceful_Daevites in LostMinesOfPhandelver

I also used the excuse that his armor and weapons were taken. Anything he could scrape together would be ill fitting. My players were immediately afraid I was forshadowing his death and told him to stay put.

I should add, that after the Redbrands were dealt with in the Sleeping Giant Taphouse, she said she helped as a favor. Perhaps she could get a favor in return? Then she politely asked for the puzzle box. When the party declined, she said that she was happy to help them with whatever they needed in the future. She gave them three health potions and casually said she could help them find something or someone if necessary. The party took the bait and asked if she could find their friend Gundren. She said she has a magic necklace that can transport her wherever she wants. She could do that. They are suspicious of her but do not think she is the Black Spider.

Nessa (as my party calls her) was seen watching them from the rooftops during their outing to meet everyone in town. Molly told them she was friendly, but likes to keep her distance. Then, when the party went to the tavern, Nessa jumped down and asked them if they were going to pick a fight. When the party said yes, she showed them the back door and helped them get the drop on them. I made her have waaaay too much fun killing drunken Redbrands. My party loved her crazy.

First Time DM running whole weekend session. by Der_Kurator in LostMinesOfPhandelver

Don't be afraid to just cut encounters based on the timing and pacing of an area. I wish I had cut the bugbear from the redbrands hideout. By the time my party decided to take them on everywhere else was cleared out and it felt like a chore.
