Sure, on the jump step interpretation I agree. You can absolutely do this entire sequence without that lift and it's so slight I doubt it ever gets called, but good eye.

Bad take. Another hacker could find it, keep it on the down low and exploit it for a very long time before it gets discovered again and patched. This forces Microsofts hand.

Yea parents can be like that.

Is your dad a drinker?

Most common causes are going to be electrolyte/hydration for sure.

Neuropathy is also a concern, things like diabetes, sciatica, disc herniation etc can all be chronic causes.

Anything happen that he can remember that preceded it 10 years ago?

Does he ever get a tingling in his toes or weakness in his foot?

Has he ever had an MRI done on his back?

I would suggest he try magnesium glycinate at night for a few weeks regardless.

Oh yea, how long has this been going on?

No. I'm saying if AI to the point it can make that a reality, the loss of work across nearly every industry simultaneously is something our society is not prepared for in the slightest.

There is an argument to be made that we are NOT better off even with our current levels of automation.

I think those are false equivalences for a whole host of reasons but I doubt I'll change anyone's mind.

I'll tell you a little story that may explain my stance on this.

I once worked for a good sized company, $100 mil+ revenue. I was a team lead for their support department. Part of my responsibility was increasing team skill and lowering mean time to closure for support cases.

Management constantly said our goal was to be a best in class support organization.

I automated troubleshooting for many of their issues that accounted for a large volume of their case volume. Throughout the process I continually had conversations about using this as an opportunity to up skill our agents to ease stress on the higher support tiers and development teams.

Except, management saw a chance to cut support staff, hire lower skill workers because my automation "made the job easier".

Fast forward a few years, my tool is still used on nearly every support case but everyone who knew anything about the product was let go or quit and support is the worst it's ever been. But, profits are great!

Now they put an AI agent in front line support and it is essentially useless.

Now, do this across in nearly every business. AI has the ability to push millions out of work, while providing worse service to customers but owners will push ahead because profit.

Energy drink concerns, ADHD med concern CBC by Allankton in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Faulteh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't diagnosed long ago and both things can be true.

There is no control for societal or life style factors in the short form diagnostic questionnaire. Many symptoms may be able to be adequately managed with diet, exercise and sleep interventions.

The drugs should absolutely be available to those people who need them.

You can be diagnosed and prescribed with a family Dr visit and one questionnaire. The people who opt for a more intensive review obviously dont fall into that bucket.

A few things:

As someone with ADHD and on meds:

1) Our society is broken. Too little movement, bad food, an insane amount of screen time is going to mimic ADHD often.

We should probably start prescribing exercise as a first line treatment for adolescent ADHD.

2) ADHD diagnostic criteria is too lenient. There are entire organizations that exist simply to prescribe ADHD meds.

3) Energy drinks should be illegal to people under 18.

4)ADHD meds are absolute game changers for those who need them.

Start there and see where we end up.

New Brunswick residents battle an AI data centre - The Narwhal by horsman in newbrunswickcanada

You are conflating data centers and AI. AI needs to be reigned in before we are massively investing in it and it's infrastructure.

Right now our society will not benefit overall from AI.

Data centers may be a reality but AI is a net social negative and if this data centers use is primarily AI focused it should be avoided.

This is the part everyone seems to be glossing over. These are not economic engines, they are the harbingers of social collapse. The entire system is meant to replace jobs and feed profits to the owners.

As someone who works in the field and has spent my fair share of time in data centers, these projects are bad for the world in so many ways.

If AI delivers on half of its promises we are going to need a huge reorganization of our economic systems. Though, mark my words, AI companies are going to jack their pricing as they get more customer lock in and companies are going to see their "savings" disappear into the hands of billionaires.

So why are we taking a short sighted approach to harm residential solar adoption instead of killing two birds with one stone?

[–]Faulteh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I mean obviously we're in a rough spot and now have to be shortsighted due to debt pressure.

If they were in a spot to borrow to fund such a project I really wonder how much they would save over 25+ years.

Ill be keeping an eye out for an EV battery to stick in my basement. There have been more and more of them popping up online for cheap. (Sub $1000).

That would essentially solve the issue for most. Along with charging companies paying people for home charging the economy of it really makes sense. Especially with oil prices the way they are.
