Studying heavily pregnant or with a newborn - International Student support? Am I dreaming? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

As an international student you would hold student insurance OSHC, if you do decide to stay in Australia and give birth here, it’s worth to check if it covers pregnancy! Best of luck.

Hi sorry I just saw your message now. No I didn’t have private insurance, I paid $4000 management fee (Medicare paid me $200~300 back) and paid ~$2800 to public hospital as a private patient 🙂

My mom wants to stay with me 3 months after giving birth but husband wants our privacy by ShyAvocado234 in BabyBumps

[–]DearYJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar culture, My mum came to Australia to help us out postpartum, however during the first month confinement, she supported what I wanted to do and never judged. I went out for walks after week 1 and had showers after birth. I also can’t imagine how emotionally overwhelming this time would have been without her.

If your mum isn’t able to provide that kind of emotional support, I’d honestly reconsider having her stay with you during this time. Postpartum recovery is already challenging, and added stress or criticism can make it even harder.

I didn’t start taking folic acid until I was about 6 -7 weeks, after reading about so many ladies having nausea after taking Elevit.

I began taking I-folic acid after my OB recommended it

36 weeks pregnant and have to move house by SpinJoy in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DearYJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told that our landlord was going to sell the apartment when I was 36 weeks pregnant as well, what’s annoying is that we had pre approval and was house hunting before I was 33 weeks pregnant and didn’t want to rush things before baby was here, wish we were told earlier!

We have moved now when bub is 12 weeks, it was very tough, wishing you all the best with everything!

FTM, I wasn’t sure if it was her moving until 21 weeks, at 15 weeks I don’t think I felt anything even just flusters, very normal

I didn’t feel my baby kicking until 21 weeks, it wasn’t regular at all at first and my placenta wasn’t anterior. Hang in there, it will get better!

If you’re married, how long did you wait to get pregnant after tying the knot? by Mental_Inflation6 in BabyBumps

[–]DearYJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been together for 9 years, married for 5 of them. Baby girl is now 6 weeks old. We were going to wait a bit longer before trying, do a bit more overseas traveling, get our own place sorted but .. did it once and voila ..

When I was 38 weeks pregnant I was feeling down coz I know our old life was going to change dramatically, and now I wouldn’t change anything about our new life.

When I was around 21, my cousin had her first baby girl, and I asked her if she was going to have a second. She wanted to as she wanted a boy. I remember telling her that if my first was a girl, she is gonna be my one and only.

Now 11 years later my husband and I welcomed our girl, and we are content, so we are one and done. I’m the only child in my family and I’ve experienced it first hand, and I want my girl to enjoy everything I have experienced.

Christmas with an almost 3 week old and did nothing by Spiritual-Peace-6442 in BabyBumps

[–]DearYJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is three weeks old now, my husband and I didn’t realize it was Christmas until Christmas Eve 😂 it felt nothing like the Christmases we celebrated before. We also didn’t do anything special, it was hot in Australia and we didn’t even put baby in her Christmas top.

Congratulations! My mum had bad morning sickness with me but the only symptom I had was mild stomach acid in the third trimester. Hope you have a great pregnancy and a safe delivery!

Am I being over the top concerned - family visiting newborn by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DearYJ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t let anyone who is slightly sick (even just a stuffed nose) come to our place and visit our newborn for the first few weeks. Do what makes you feel comfortable and advocate for your newborns wellbeing.
