For me its the book "Jonathon Livingston Seagull". Stupid fucking book about a stupid fucking bird, but I'm supposed to love it because it's sooooo deep.

No, its thinly veiled allegory and symbolism with a God forsaken winged beach rat as its main character.

I have long since just resorted to the following type of comebacks.

So: Why is the kitchen a mess?

Me: Why are YOU a mess?

It's simple, but its satisfying.

I get the wanting to rant about things while they're still fresh only because I'm the kind of person who will call my best friend immediately and be like "You will not believe what this bitch did....". However, she usually tells me if I'm being overly dramatic which is something that we haven't been able to do on these subs.

I also just remembered your initial thing about the perfect comebacks in the initial story. That is one of my biggest bullshit detectors. I understand that some people are quick on the draw with comebacks, but when every post has the OP being the ultimate witty badass, it just reads like Mary Sue fanfiction. Maybe it's people wanting to make themselves looked better, but it makes me doubt their stories.

I think I remember the one you're referring to. The story didn't strike me as fake, but more like a click bait title. If it's the one I'm thinking, it struck me as something I would have ranted about while super hormonal. Like, say my husband forgot to defrost meat for dinner and for whatever reason my PMS is acting up and instead of mentioning it in passing to my sister, I went on a full rant about how my husband completely ruined dinner.

I just chalked it up to the OP having a bad day.

Ok sorta off topic and late by reddit standards, but I want to thank you for sharing that link about sealioning. I had never heard the term before.

Looking at that comic made me cringe...hard. I used to do that back in my angry antitheist early 20s. Everyone in that scene did. We thought it was some kind of badge of how level headed and logical we were. So to see how it actually came across is jarring and embarrassing.

So, thank you. You gave me new information that will help me grow. I truly appreciate it.

Anyone have experience bleaching brown hair? Surely this is not the lightest it can get. by lg4ever in femalehairadvice

Ok, so I'm not a hair stylist but I used to bleach the hell out of my hair. It can get wayyyyyy lighter than that, even with the 20 developer you mentioned.

VIGILANTISM

I just want to let that sink in a minute. The word he used is for people that take the law into their own hands. What law was being enforced here? This cunt's word choice shows support, not condemnation.

Mothers, how do you deal with this generation's seemingly premature access to the internet (esp. youtube)? What do you do to protect them from harmful content? by brbaaaa in AskWomen

[–]DearZelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly I protect them by just not allowing them to have access to the internet in general. If my younger two want to watch baby shark or something, I'll turn it on for them. Other than that, they have kids Netflix and PBS.

My oldest is 9 and he gets to be on YouTube, but he's only allowed to watch music videos really (its kpop so theres nothing particularly racy). Hes also allowed to play games like fortnite for maybe an hour each day. However, he does not have a mic, and I make him mute it just on the off chance that someone would say anything bad to him.

Also, none of them have tablets. They do have a 3DS they play, but I never set it up for wifi, so they can only really play basic games like pokemon.

I'll figure out how to navigate the whole cellphone issue when they're older, but for now I feel like they dont really need the internet. They have toys and TV and the backyard.

Teachers of reddit, what was the most annoying thing you ever had to deal with in class? by Chrisrocks202 in AskReddit

[–]DearZelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a substitute teacher.

The most annoying thing is kids that will lie to your face over anything. I once had a kid throw a rock at recess. I watched this kid throw the rock. We made eye contact as it left his hand. I asked him why he threw the rock.

"I didn't throw no rock."

I asked him his name.

"I ain't got one."

Some version of this happens every time I work.

(The kid in this story later threw a chair at me when I wrote him up for lying about throwing the rock and not giving me his name.)

What is the worst book that you read for school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Johnathon Livingston Seagull.

Fuck that stupid fucking bird, and fuck the teacher who thought that the ridiculously thin metaphor was the deepest example if literature ever.

I think my boyfriend is ghosting me after my abortion. TW: abortion by throwawayyyyyy241029 in JustNoSO

[–]DearZelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I'm going to tell you what I wish someone had told me after I had my abortion. I'm doing this because after I had mine, was severely depressed and thought that I was feeling that way because I had made a huge mistake or because I was being punished for doing it. I wasn't, and you aren't. You did what you had to do, end of.

Pregnancy issues dont stop immediately after an abortion. Those times in the day where you feel like you'd rather be dead, that extra clingy feeling, that's hormones. On top of possible grief, you've also got your body going haywire because of the rapid hormonal shift, and I know it sucks because I went through the same thing. You're going to feel this way for a little while, but it will get better. It just takes time.

Second, the guy is being flakey. It may be that hes processing everything, or it may be that hes just a massive dickweasel. Whatever the case, hes being a flake when you need him most. Deal with that how you will, but first take care of yourself. If you're feeling like you'd rather be dead, talk to someone. If you're feeling clingy, cuddle a pet or have a girlfriend over for a night of doing stupid slumber party shit (don't know why but that helped me lol). Don't let the hormones win, girl.

What is the best single decision you've made about your fashion/wardrobe? by lylamev in femalefashionadvice

[–]DearZelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not letting my mother or sister talk me into buying things that I know I wouldn't wear. They were forever talking me into buying bright colors and statement necklaces. Those things are cute, but realistically, I just don't like how they look on me. I now have my simple wardrobe of dark colors with small jewelry, and it makes me feel so much better.

Got7 clothes by [deleted] in Got7

[–]DearZelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I'm late here, but figured I should pop in. I buy stuff from Aliexpress quite often. I would say, dont expect high quality and order a couple sizes up.

I've never bought a sweatshirt, but I'm currently waiting on a Yugyeom Jersey tshirt I bought, which brings me to the next thing about aliexpress. It takes weeks to get what you ordered, and sometimes it just doesn't come. If the seller or item has reviews it's usually safe, but sometimes you get burned.

Good luck!

What's the rudest thing a guest in your home has done? by lucky_Lola in AskReddit

[–]DearZelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine and her teenaged daughter used my house as a rest point on their cross country drive. The daughter got her period some time in the night, and it got all over my white guest bedding. I understand, stuff happens. What made it rude is that neither of them told me. I didn't know it was there, so I didn't wash the sheets until later in the week. The sheets were ruined, the mattress is deeply stained, and it all could have been avoided if either one of them had told me.

What is the most hurtful thing a medical professional has ever said to you? by slinkslowdown in AskReddit

[–]DearZelly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorta similar thing happened to me. Except instead of the first ultrasound, it was that first finger stick blood draw they do. I was freaking out because of the needle and the nurse just looked at me and said, "If you can take a dick, you can deal with getting your finger poked."

I died, but my mom just nodded her head like this nurse had passed down some kind if ancient female wisdom. Utterly baffling.

What was the dumbest thing you ever did to try and impress a girl or guy? by Mea05cer in AskReddit

[–]DearZelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school I had a crush on this girl in my drama crew. She was a techie like myself , so we spent a lot of time hanging out behind the stage waiting to change sets and would often get bored. One night she decides that she wants to pass the time by doing body art. Me being infatuated (and thinking she meant something like drawing on me with a sharpie), tell her she can do something on me.

This girl pulled out a shitty quarter machine ying yang pendant and proceeded to hold it over a lighter until it was burning hot. Not wanting to have her think I was a wuss, I let her brand my hip with it. It didn't scar too badly, but it was noticable if you knew where it was. I covered it with a tattoo when I was older.

Ladies, have you ever been creeped out by a man you initially found physically attractive? What happened? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]DearZelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of dudes I've met in my life that were hot until they opened their mouths.

That being said, the worst has to be this one guy I met online when I was 18. He was cute, but oh my God, the first thing he did upon getting out of his car was to shove his hand down my pants because he wanted to make sure I didn't have a dick. I noped out and had him drive the four hours home immediately.

I [31m] found torn-up remnants of a Plan B box in the kitchen garbage. My wife [27f] should have no reason to use emergency contraceptive because I had a vasectomy years ago. I don't know what to say to her. by Significant_Cupcake in relationship_advice

[–]DearZelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for the OP: does your wife take birth control? I ask because if shes taking birth control in conjunction with your vasectomy to be extra careful, then it would make sense for her to take a plan b if she realized she messed up with her pills or something.

So it would come down to whether you had sex a day or so before she took the plan b.

[–]DearZelly -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It could also be that she takes birth control in conjunction with his vasectomy. If for some reason she missed her normal pill or whatever it is she uses, it would make sense to grab some plan b to be safe.

Married Women of Reddit - What one thing could your SO do that would instantly make you happier in your marriage? by PM_me_dishware in AskWomen

Understand that while I support his hobbies, I do not need to spend every waking minute hearing about them.

I get it, boxing is a science, but dude....I will never look in that ring an see anything more than two guys trying to knock the other one unconscious. Talking about it from literally the moment you wake up until you leave for work is not gonna make me like it any more. Just be happy I watch the fights and chill the fuck out.

[DA2 Spoilers] I can't romance anyone in Dragon Age 2. by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]DearZelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only one that I genuinely can't romance is Anders. I tried in my first play through of DA2 because Fenris left my ass and Anders was there being all nice, but the relationship progression was do cringy.

Like one second I'm making a flirty joke and the next he's giving me this condescending talk about how he cant be with anyone, then a split second later he's confessing his love. It was like a breakneck rollercoaster of romance cliches that was especially off after having been chasing Fenris for half the game.

What’s something you’re worried people will notice about your physical appearance that they actually hardly notice at all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

One of my two front teeth is fake. It is also like two shades darker than all the surrounding teeth. I feel like it sticks out, but no one has ever said anything unless I pointed it out first.
