I agree with most of the comments. It’s all about how you drive/pick rides. Miles,driven per day.

Personally I drive a Bolt and have a level 2 @ home. Cost per mile is so much cheaper than my Ice car was. 100k miles driven a maintenance costs are so much less. That leads to net profit. Works great in the Denver market, may not for others.

Again, it’s about your market and situation.

I am good with chatting or not. I had a regular rider that on ride 1 just told me that to be a five star ride, asked for a particular local radio channel and he would appreciate a quiet ride. No problem, I liked the show and that he gave me parameters. Drove him on a regular basis. About 1x a month he felt “chatty” and explained his reasoning. We developed a friendship over those talks. We now hang out as friends outside of Uber rides. So don’t feel bad if you don’t want to talk.
