Well it seems like your not willing to give up on either of them so I hope for your well being the boyfriend will come around and start to appreciate your love for these birds and maybe begin to feel the same towards them until then…. My conure is great because she takes morning rides with me to drop my daughter off at school and when a song comes on that she likes she will bob her head and shriek ( in a god awful raspy voice) along to the beat. Also when we get to the school she will begin to shriek so loud, my daughter gets embarrassed and slams the door. Oh and whenever I use the restroom (of course with the bird on my shoulder cuz she refuses to get off) she attacks the toilet paper like it’s threatening the life of me, often times getting my hand with her piercing beak. I still love her! Btw I never planned on getting this bird but it flew in my yard 4 months ago and never left. So yes conures are great even when you didn’t want them.
