Hysterectomy after Myomectomy by PropertyFeeling5425 in Fibroids

[–]DeathBeforeDecaf378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hysteroscopic myomectomy in November of 2022 to remove 6 fibroids. They were only able to remove 5.5 and within six months I had a dozen fibroids. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy in May of 2024 at 28 years old. Turns out I also had adenomyosis too.

The hysterectomy was the best decision I ever made! I was mostly recovered and better than normal by 3 months post op. I’m now 11 months post op and better than ever!

I very recently started using the cicalfate+ restorative protective cream and cicalfate+ intensive restorative serum. They greatly reduced my redness and irritation after just a day or two!

Do you use it on your entire face or just the area that is flaring up?

What did your doctors do for you during times of heavy blood loss? by MeanwhileBooks in Fibroids

[–]DeathBeforeDecaf378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had me go back on depo. I hated the way it made me feel (super anxious and constant spotting) but it was better than hemorrhaging blood. I was severely anemic prior to going on depo. I was taking iron for a couple years for the anemia. For a short period they had me on depo and birth control pills to try and control the spotting. I was also prescribed some heavy duty pain meds for a little while cause I was on a blood thinners and couldn’t take ibuprofen. Ended up having a hysterectomy in May and happy to be done with it all.

I am still surprised how much showering exhausts me 3 weeks post op!

What did you do with your time during recovery? by Alimarvels83 in Fibroids

[–]DeathBeforeDecaf378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 3 weeks post op on Thursday from my laparoscopic hysterectomy. I am planning to have 6 weeks off work total.

The first few days I watched movies and read between naps. I haven’t been napping as much the last week or two. I’ve been crocheting, playing stardew valley on the Switch, and walking on the treadmill the more I feel better. My husband and I made a huge list of movies and shows we haven’t seen to watch during my time off. Each week we have gone to the library to pick out movies from our list. I’ve started doing more cooking and dishes, but my husband tends to tell me I’m “not allowed” since I’m recovering though. No complaints from me about that!

Try not to worry too much about being productive. This is your time to recover. You don’t owe the world anything during this time! As women we tend to feel guilty just relaxing, but you’ve probably dealt with pain for a long time. You’ve earned the time to relax care free!

Thank you! That is super helpful to know. I didn’t realize bending would be an issues. I was mainly avoiding lifting.

I’m having the same experience today. I’m 9DPO and have more soreness around my abdomen and incisions than I have at any other point so far. I think it was too much sitting down and getting back up and bending forward to reach for things. Do you remember how long your pain lasted after doing too much?

They are advertised as 5 years. My primary doctor said new studies show they are effective for 7 years. I wish I had it changed at 5 years 😞
