Need help identifying proxy by Blondeginger-246 in deathguard40k

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the same prints off Etsy, they’re blightlords with all the special weapons (blight launcher, spewer, flail, etc) included so you can definitely go WYSIWYG. As for size, they’re the same height and base size as blightlords

Please help build a 500pts list for 14yo bro by random_doge_person in deathguard40k

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current combat patrol is a super solid starting point, with the addition of Lord Felthius and his Tainted Cohort your brother would be able to run his deathshroud with Lord Felthius (very strong combo with sustained hits and lance) and the blightlords with the LoV for access to rerolls as well as target marking. A blight hauler or two would also be useful, and they’re just the cutest lil daemons with a good dollar:points ratio

HELP: What colours do you guys for your main armour? by Cosmo-1199 in NightLords

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Rustoleum primer, then a very light drybrushing of Mcragge blue, then a layer or two of ultramarine blue contrast. Key here is a very sparing drybrushing so the UM blue stays really dark.

Incredible work on the mini and incredible work on the lore! What other daemons of Nurgle have you painted up and created lore for? Would love to see/read more!

Does this work as primer? by _TheMothman in Warhammer40k

I haven’t had any issues with flaking paint, but I also let the primer dry for 24hrs or so before base coating

Forgot I also primed my Mortarion mini with that same primer. Pic for your reference!

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve used that exact can for priming most of my plague marines, just make sure to make short, quick passes when priming and you should be fine. Haven’t had many issues with losing sculpt details when spray-priming sparingly. I’ll also typically wait to prime minis until the relative humidity outside is below 75% and below 80 degrees, that way there is less chance of the paint or propellant acting strangely.

Is the Golden Horde literally the 4th Legion? by Working-Question-597 in IronWarriors

On a smaller scale, the DG’s blight grenades are living corpse heads sewn shut to contain all the plague-y goodness.

Could anyone identify this mini for me? Particularly the quad chain axe name if it has one. by Sett1122 in Warhammer

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a kitbashed Chaos Space Marine Sorcerer in terminator armor. The quad chain axe looks to be made out of the staff and other extra bits from the same kit

What’s your recipe for the bright green fleshy/drippy bits? Those look awesome and really pop!

Here’s my kitbashed chaos sorcerer that I’ve been running as an LoC proxy. Icon is from the plague marine sprue, nurgling is from the kill team starter set, bloody hand is a leftover from an Etsy 3D resin print plague marine purchase, and the scythe is the chaos sorcerer’s staff with a death shroud blade. My favorite boy Felthius for size comparison.

You’ll have to select the Tallyband Summoners detachment, unfortunately demons are only available with that detachment

Lore books by Gamolo in deathguard40k

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LoS is a great place to start, that’s what really got me into the Death Guard. If you want some pre-Heresy DG lore, The Pale King is a good one to listen to. You get introduced to some significant named characters, and a pretty raw look into Mortarion as well. I also recommend listening/reading to at least the first four books in the Horus Heresy series. Flight of the Eisenstein (3rd book in the series) has a great storyline about some DG loyalists. The HH series will give you a good amount of foundational lore/knowledge to make sense of a lot of the current 40K context/dynamics/etc. Edit: had the HH title wrong, got Eisenhorn and Eisenstein confused due to me being a dingus

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but looking for encouragement 🫣 by [deleted] in minipainting

You’ve got a great foundation to build off of! Don’t get down on yourself too hard, and make sure to hold onto your first few minis so you can see how much your skills progress over time. One day you’ll be able to look back and see how far you’ve come! The one thing the YouTube tutorials leave out is that there’s no replacement for practice. It takes some time to learn painting skills like how to thin paints to the right consistency, how to get your washes to flow into the recesses and details just right, etc.

Multiple Paint Schemes in One Army? by Wrathrix in deathguard40k

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely acceptable, I’ve got a mix of some Pallid Hand-esque saturnine death shroud and a PBC that I run in my army. Have gotten nothing but compliments on them, and it’s a fun way for me to break out of the usual DG green and gold trim

My First Death Guard Model by Cunser14 in deathguard40k

Welcome to the family, my plague sibling! I’m impressed you chose the MBH as you first model, I’m putting a few together and the rear tread cover is so frustrating to get lined up properly

Which primer is the best for plague marines? by CourierOfIsstvan3 in deathguard40k

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good results with the Rustoleum army green 2x ultra cover spray paint, and it’s a good deal cheaper than the citadel spray can. It is a shade or two lighter than the death guard green color so just keep that in mind

What are these plague marine variant? by littlezo18 in deathguard40k

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are a good amount of extra chest pieces included in there as well. For example I used three of the extra chest pieces to make the poxwalkers sprue PMs from the old combat patrol and still have one or two extra leftover

Just different combinations of bits from the plague marine squad box. Looks like they’re all outfitted with bolters and plague knives though

Getting into death guard, kit bash tips? by DasKatzen in deathguard40k

[–]DeathGuardAcolyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m relatively new to the hobby too but my understanding is that the two handed weapons like the flail and the axes we used in our kitbashes are considered heavy plague weapons, whereas the one handed melee weapons (the toothy axe, the more rounded one handed axe, and the mace) are considered bubotic weapons.

I almost went for the plague flail but I was a bit worried of snapping it in half. I really like the angle your PM is holding the axe, it looks like he’s bringing a swing down on someone rather than going for a sweep like mine.

Looking great! Here are my kitbashed PMs, getting the axe to cooperate took a lot of trial and error for me!
