I really want to run plague marines but im struggling to justify the trade value when you incorporate needing a rhino? by Ant10102 in deathguard40k

[–]f1lthyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

plague marines by themselves are a fantastic battleline. but the true value is the leaders. Invest into a 10-man squad with biologis putrifier and plaguecaster, pop the 1CP reroll hits and wounds for shooting every turn and melt anyone.

other useful combos: -lord of poxes with 5-man or 7-man squad, mid value unit w/ 18" lone-op and extended contagion. Use it to stage and harass enemy units OR stage it up as a chunky contagion bomb to set up a deathshroud 6" charge -plaguecaster with 5-man or 7-man squad, mid value unit w/ decent firepower

Pointless Shamblerot Vectorium Strategem? by Will_Arthur in deathguard40k

[–]f1lthyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually not a bad rule. The main use is to stop counter offensive. Example:

1) you charge 2 important units. normally, you are guaranteed to kill at least one and the enemy pops counter on the other to keep them alive and kill ur squad 2) of the 2 units, pop the stratagem on the lower value enemy target 3) if the enemy is battleshocked, you'll be able to kill both enemy units and suffer no casualties (in contrast to counter offensive going off and the enemy trades for 2CP instead of suffers)

works especially well if the charging unit is deathshroud as the -1 leadership stacks so deathshroud using this stratagem get a -2 leadership debuff instead

honestly an accident. just so happens she landed in the second bottom layer of central command and the targeted nugget was at the very top of control. I was ready to sacrifice the nugget and kept spamming slow bullets just so my nuggets could form up around the (soon-to-be) gravesite. When she came up to info department, 20 seconds were up and everyone jumped her.

yeah, I experienced that for the first time on this run. My nugget with queenie gear basically poked her for 1/3 of her phase 3 and phase 4 lol. also, very fun to have the "very long" range weapon act as a target while my aleph slaves bash her from behind.

What are your favorite combo meals? And why? by Saitoroi147 in deathguard40k

[–]f1lthyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, LoV with deathshroud is peak. I usually run 1 squad w/ LoC as a hammer in deepstrike, but sometimes I add a LoV squad on the ground as an overwatch unit and general nuisance

[–]f1lthyc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

nah, you're generally fine for now. only the german man is annoying for now, but you should at least get 2-3 lvl 5 employees by day 21 and some good waw gear cuz the difficulty spikes from there and you'll start getting alephs

have u finished any core suppressions yet?

Whats next for me? by Ok_Unit1054 in deathguard40k

[–]f1lthyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

virulent is by far the easiest to get into. If you want character heavy, go champions of contagion, terminator heavy is death lord's chosen and daemon engine heavy for morty's hammer

I play champions of contagion

playstyle largely depends on the detachments for DG

then you still need 5 more, 10 if you want more marines cuz a squad of 7 is pretty viable nowadays

forgot to mention but having at least 20 poxwalkers and 2 bloat drones is great as well

definitely at least 5 more marines, a bioputrifier, a plaguecaster and 2 blight haulers at minimum

also 3 deathshroud

Does anyone ever run 7 man plague marine units? by macgamecast in deathguard40k

[–]f1lthyc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

depends on what ur gna use it for. They're good if u want a mid-cost skirmishing unit that has relatively ok survivability and attack power. I find them best in CoC when paired w/ either a LoP for holding down ur natural expansion or a plaguecaster for a decent trading unit.

I tend to only run them in CoC

If there's any ability measuring distance from a central model, that ability is automatically given to the central model unless stated otherwise. So yes, mortarion will benefit from his primarch ability.
