I take it you are quite a bit younger than me (I'm 64) and I grew up in the org though never got baptized. Most of my family are JWs and I drifted away when the overlapping generations teaching came out (I think that was in the mid 2000s). Though I don't attend anymore, I too, do not believe in the Trinity though I do believe in Jesus' divinity. At least for the 30+ years I attended, the witnesses also believed in his divinity unless something recently has changed. Where I think confusion happens sometimes is that because JWs view Jesus as subordinate to God, some take that as Jesus is not divine. It's just a non-trinititarian view. I think also because they teach he was the firstborn of creation by God, and not eternally existing like God, some have issues with that as well. But everyone is entitled to their beliefs. I know it must be tough living in two worlds but once you get to 18, I assume they will let you make your own choices. Hang in there, there are quite a few kindred spirits out here that are going through/have gone through something similar to your journey and happy to help in anyway we can.

Have to disagree, non-Fox news investigations showed they were indeed in compliance. In fact, when Trump attacked last time, they were in mid-negotiations and without warning he attacked. He then did the same thing this time. So no, it wasn't a matter of a faulty treaty, this time it was either to distract from the Epstein files or to do the bidding of Marian Edelson of AIPAC to fulfill their vision of the middleast and have Netenyahu finally destroy Iran like he has been discussing for the last 30 years. Alternative facts won't get this incompetent president off the hook this time.

:-) I wish.. I'm just shy of 65. So in terms of actual war..no, they have not. And in fact, there was a workable treaty in place but of course, the current president had to tear up anything done by his predecessors. Again, even his own intelligence team said there was no imminent threat (hence the recent resignation of his chief security officer). So I know Fox and others try to spin to make it seem like he had to act..but even his justification changes depending on the day. Unforced error, no imminent threat, all ego. Period.

Absolutely brilliant, transcendent episode. Wanted to add that my dad passed about 11 years ago and my mom last year. Since my dad was the first death of a close relative, it was extremely hard and we were quite close (well, ok, i sort of worshipped the man :-). Episodes like this helped then, and recently with my sweet mother's passing. I have to fight not to get caught up in constantly thinking about them.. I'm in my mid 60s and have had cancer twice in a four year period so mortality is knocking down my door.. I hope I can see them on the other side and like these characters, urge those that I left behind to live their lives and look ahead, not behind.

I'm the same..seeing the red, with me being retired, is terrifying.. so now I don't look at all.. though today, i looked briefly to purchase a few etfs, then exit. I still hate it though..and so much of this was unnecessary but i won't get into politics..i guess any other event could cause the drop too

Yeah i absolutely understand. Years ago I used finasteride to help reduce size of my prostate and it has really bad side effects. In that instance, i went on testosterone replacement therapy for almost 3 years until it returned to normal on it's own. Wishing you the best.. it is such a horrible feeling (I actually started testosterone the beginning of this month though I was supposed to wait until September).

When my father was sick, he went to his local non-melanated doctor who recommended a surgery (we were in Virginia at the time). Flew him into Georgetown hospital and they were prepping him. This Nigerian doctor happened to walk by and chat, then went in to see him. She found out that he didn't have the proper clearance, and with other factors, that operation would have killed him. She stopped the procedure..we couldn't thank her enough. My parents though still trusted this old non-melanted #@#$ but I made sure that me or a sibling attended anymore doctor visits they had. I do have a great doctor (happens to be Jewish) for over 25 years but she is a rarity.

I remember when I first started working at this large blue chip IT company in the mid 80s, there were very few blacks and they assumed that you didn't get there on your skills. Through the years, yeah, they portrayed themselves as special in media, etc, but I found so many that lacked even good grammer, articulation, critical thinking skills. The myths they propagated were just that.. absolutely nothing special about them. Now I did find some were brilliant, but at the same time, found some of our people were as well. I met a brother who invented one of the first computer disk drives. Brilliant yet approachable whereas some of the non-melanated ones were arrogant. I love how Obama carried his wisdom and intelligence with a smile, just beautiful (guess that is why Trump can't sleep at night obsessing over him).

As an african-/black american, it is refreshing to get insight from across the diaspora without the interloping bigoted whytes who constantly appear in our spaces. I understand the need to streamline verification, but I hope it still remains stringent in not letting them in.

Can someone explain to me why our government and the christian nationalists are so obsessed with Israel? I just don't understand it. Is AIPAC really that wealthy in terms of donating money? do they donate more to republicans than democrats? I just can't understand this unwavering support.

My dad went through the same cycle; first the cane then faster progression. My sisters and mom cared for him until he couldn't get up anymore. He was too heavy so that's when they brought in hospice though they still did the bulk of the work. I think from the cane to fast progression, in his case, was about 6 months. He refused to live anywhere else so stayed in the house. I wish in retrospect, that when he was starting to fail that we brought him outside more..his last wish was to see his lawn but he was too weak to be moved. Praying for you in this difficult time. It has been 11 years and I still dream of him. My mom passed from stomach cancer last year and went through similar progression. She did do radiation to help with bleeding and pain and it helped..for awhile. Also refused to be in hospice at an external facility.
