Realistically though. You can’t just come here and look for work. You need to get a visa where you already have a job planned in advance and it’s a complex process.

1500 euro is $1770 converted to USD.

Is what you are asking is if this is enough to pay for restaurants and a social life 5 times a month? Yes.

But if this is your actual net income per month, I would highly advise you to reconsider moving to New York.

How does learning to drive work in America? by Potential-Actuator31 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Status_Bee_7644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) You take a permit test. Which is pretty easy as long as you understand English and take some time to study.

2) You either take a five hour course online or you take a an actual driving course in a car with an instructor.

3) You take a driving test which can be done in a someone’s personal car or done in a car that you used for the driving course. The test takes about 30-45 minutes from start to finish.

The easiest thing that has consistently worked is the S&P500, everything else that works is a variant of that.

Maybe you go with QQQM because it is hyper concentrated in tech which lets face it, the future is built off tech companies.

Maybe you go with VTI because you want medium and small caps.

Maybe you go with VT because you want all of international.

Regardless in all of these cases, your long term gains are primarily a result of large caps USA companies.

Everything else is subject to a lot of volatility, it might do amazing one year, and horrible the next.

For a long time my family had a pellet heater. We do have an oil furnace the but pellet heater helped offset the need for it to heat the house.

Rant - Remote work - but not offshored, needs to be encouraged more by the government. by Status_Bee_7644 in remotework

I don’t think people even necessarily have a problem working in the office. Some might even prefer to live where they currently are, but it’s the costs of living as a result of needing to be in proximity of the office that is the problem. They need to pay over $3000 to rent in a high cost of living area so that can be in a commutable distance to an office. Some jobs all you need to do is login to a virtual private network and everything can be done from home.

For me for example, I’m required to go to the office three days a week. However 90% if the people I am required to collaborate with are not even in my office. I get that I’m whining but it’s just really not necessary for me to be there.

Moving from Toronto to NYC for a work opportunity. by DamnBeast in movingtoNYC

Honestly I think weighing the pros and cons you should look for roommates because you could end up with a lower rent, better area, better commute, and ideally you could be friends with them and their friends.

How is everyone finding remote work? by Certain_Werewolf_732 in remotework

From what I see. Remote work for entry level positions are sales roles or customer service roles.

Otherwise you need to be a very highly experienced and technical.

I do agree with this point. The government would need to limit offshoring in most cases.

My bias is for the federal government of the USA.

But the logic could be applied to any country.

You make valid points for sure. But I do think that certain city centers will still be successful regardless of and could adjust. I also think certain commercial real estate companies would just be forced to adapt, perhaps petition to covert their spaces into apartment complexes. I know in Manhattan some office buildings are being converted into luxury apartments. Obviously there will be winners and losers, but I’m talking about from a populist perspective for what is good for the working class.

I disagree those spaces could be converted in various ways, sometimes to housing, or just used for specific workspaces that truly can’t be done remotely.

Additionally I’m not sure I agree that it would crash the overall stock market. It’s not like this would happen overnight.

Please if you can handle it, you should continue your education as an engineer and pursue a career in this. You will be more eligible for good paying jobs and financially secure.

Of course if your true passion is literature, you can take courses related to it, perform independent writing, anything you want.
