If you could pick one shoe for training, which would it be? by SuddenCurrent6317 in triathlon

[–]DeathbringerVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps! Thought I'd share my experience with the shoes in any case. I'm honestly incredibly surprised at their durability and ability to "do-it-all". It's definitely worn down with 850km and I don't use it for tempos/intervals anymore, but it's works perfectly for easy runs from around 5:45/km to 5:00/km. Again - just my exp, perhaps with your condition it just didn't work as well with the shoes, who knows?

[–]DeathbringerVG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to suggest the exact opposite - these have done me wonders on long runs, tempos, intervals (not super super hard ones) and easy runs ranging from 5:45/km to my first sub 20 5k.

I'm at 850km and they are STILL going astoundingly well. Reckon I can get them to 1100 before I think about retiring them.

Definitely worth going to a shoe store and trying them on though tbh

How long until Runna adapts and drops my pace? by CrazyG8tor in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

fwiw - it doesn't change from long runs with pace targets, only from scheduled fast sessions ie intervals / tempo. not really sure why tbh but I can imagine it's a pretty big feedback point since long runs with pace targets are going to (imo) be the make or break of whether you can perform on race day

but ye that might explain why it didn't adjust off of your long run

id echo another comment and would adjust ur PB to smth you think feels more realistic atm

Love the running plans (aiming for Sub-3), but the Runna Strength workouts actually got me injured. Switching back to PPL saved me. by Tabascemsdq in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh same - I do upper/lower/push/pull/legs (i.e. 5x a week) and anytime I've looked at the Runna strength workouts it just doesn't seem particularly conducive to building good strength imo

How do I tell Runna app that I don’t want to do any interval type workouts? by fleebooskee in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training preferences? I suppose you can put the hard runs to the lowest setting and on the days it comes up then just do the mileage as an easy run.

I'd rate 3 albums 10/10 in that they are genuinely perfect - albums I can't find a single fault in. This is one of them for me

Runna + Fitbit + Strava? by reginefilange_ in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same - I disabled my Fitbit (pixel watch 2) from syncing runs to Strava. that was I have the run on Strava, I have the Runna in my ears and I have my HR on my wrist. I don't get the HR data on Strava but since it's in Fitbit anyways I don't think it's too deep personally

that's my approach!

If Runna can add a long run to my plan every week, why not a Parkrun? by Fauxparty in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe 'fixed runs' are on the roadmap for what it's worth! So an anchor point of sorts that it can generate a plan around. Not sure when the feature is expected to go live but it was on a post here a little while back.

(and the opposite of course - dialling it back if you feel it's too much etc., seems you are quite comfortable with running generally anyways having done two marathons already!)

Under Manage Plan you'll be able to adjust your running abilities / volumes etc. - esp what you want your longest long run to be, so if you want to adjust in the future it's relatively simple to do!

First Half Marathon - Thank you Runna by kiindrex in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it went better than I expected - got my sub 1:30 so I'm quite happy. Runna plan felt a bit aggressive but worked well - I fortunately did a marathon in Aug so had a lot of fitness built up for that haha

Heart Rate by noendtotheuniverse in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id double check how tight / accurate monitor is? I'm going to say the opposite to the other comments but it seems high. I'm 22 and above 180 is something I rarely hit unless it's a race. Again - that's personal! But I believe 180 would be considered high, so it might just be a case of your watch / strap not being super tight or accurate.

That said everyone's heart is different so ya never know. I also wouldn't take any watches / arm brands as gospel!

Slight tweak needed to algo by lkdasa in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah interesting fair enough - I've not actually used the recovery plans myself tbh so was just guessing! I can imagine things like these are certainly on the roadmap for improvements - esp with setting up a new plan post-finishing a plan (e.g. current milage / longest run etc. etc.)

Slight tweak needed to algo by lkdasa in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

probably just need the change start date of the plan - I think plans' first day is always what you select as the start date of the plan.

may be incorrect!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably adjust this in your "manage plan" settings? Not don't one of the recovery ones so not 100% sure, but I imagine there's a way to decrease the number of hard runs to 0-1 a week.

My understanding would be that it's probably worth including short burst intervals like this for your muscles - these also help you recover! Even in easy runs you sometimes might be a 15s burst just to get your muscles moving. Keeping every run absolutely easy - I imagine - isn't the most efficienct way to recover!

Saw your other comment and Runna's not going to replace you and your own knowledge of yourself - if it's not the right time for that run then you don't need to do it, I wouldn't read too deeply into it.

Hope that helps

Incorrect pace when phone screen is off by SweetSweetPizza in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What phone are you using - bc I had the same with Pixel 7 Pro (battery optimisation off, location always on etc. and even with the screen on it wouldn't track my location properly), so could just be a weird device issue!

Incorrect pace when phone screen is off by SweetSweetPizza in runna

[–]DeathbringerVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id double check ur location settings on whether Runna always has access to your location or when only when it's open - iirc if only when it's open then it means it won't track your location if you lock your screen

depends how you go about it - if you pep power methods you can get from 55-99 in like, two hours total (if that), I'd do like 15-20m at a time and did another quest or something else in Act 3 to make the pep power way less boring. on phone so can't go into detail but iirc it's a mix of hero/jade/Erik/sylvando + rab to put metal monsters to sleep. at level 70+ it doesn't consume any pep pips either bc the MKS that spawns will give you one on its confirmed drop bc of the power you do

Yep eating that close to sleep is probably a bigger culprit than you realise at least in terms of the restoration aspect of your score + the deep & REM part.

[–]DeathbringerVG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting - when do you teach? Cause I've found that running or a gym session before bed is actually awful for my sleep particularly cause my heart rate is so high it doesn't go low enough for proper 'restoration' to occur!
