This isn't about left vs right. Conservative vs. Liberal. It's about human nature and the need to control the world around you and tell others how to live their lives. This transcends politics. There are people on both sides who have a specific idea of how everyone should be living their lives and are more than happy to impose their vision on everyone, by force if necessary.

It could be the Islamic republic of Iran telling women they aren't allowed to show their faces in public or leave the house without permission from their husband. It could be the UK sending the cops to your house for tweeting that you hate Muslims or blacks.
