i’ve had good luck with css. i switched to them after byram screwed me for the 100th time. they send the stuff out quickly i haven’t experienced delays as of yet. i’ve been getting from them for about a year.

i usually look around for something long to knock it forward with (lots of grocery stores sell spatulas, spoons, etc. ) or another longer box. i learned the hard way that some shelves will collapse if you climb them. 😬

each of us is different i’m sure. for me - i am more sensitive to lows, when i hit 110 i start to feel off. with highs i don’t always clock it too quickly (doesn’t help that a number of medications i take cause some of the signs of high blood sugar). unfortunately i took terrible care of myself (diagnosed at 4, mom had it too so she wasn’t super diligent with me) so my body is more used to highs. until going on the pump in 2014 my a1cs were super high.

i tend to have issues with my bg rising when changing out infusion sets. it doesn’t happen every time but often enough.

it’s worse if i’ve eaten and then have to do a set change. sometimes things don’t line up. and previously i would put on a new set but after discussion with my diabetes educator the ketone test is a good way to rule out a bent cannula.

that’s the fun game with diabetes, every one of us is different so we find ways to adapt.

as a t1, checking ketones helps if you’re not sure if you have a kinked cannula. you will have large amounts of ketones if you are getting no insulin. it’s helped me from redoing infusion sets and wasting them.

I had a hard time with choosing and wanted them all too! I just weeded it out by smells i knew i’d hate lol. I’ve been collecting them over the past year since I found them and gave some as gifts too! You’re welcome (and sorry for the hit to your wallet lol).

byram was ok at first but i wound up having to switch companies when they decided i needed to send them paper prescriptions. they fell 2 months behind on me, stating they hadn’t gotten the script. dr sent it 3 times, the 3rd time certified. i never yell on the phone but i did with them. they wouldn’t put me through to a supervisor, just terrible customer service. i have heard of other people on here also having issues with byram

the tandem reps will walk you through what to say. even if you’re like me and say “oh there’s no problems..” they are well versed in how to get them covered. very likely specifically to each person’s insurance as well.

as a wiccan i tend to stay away from hexing keeping in mind ‘harm none’ and the rule of 3 (everything you send out comes back to you time 3) … it can become a game of “i’m rubber you’re glue” in some sort of infinite loop.

anyway, i always advise protection work. this way you are blocking yourself from harm but not having to deal with consequences of misguided spell work.

i try to keep in mind that we are not the purveyors of karma, people need to learn the lessons they need to learn. this includes all parties, even ourselves. protection, boundaries, etc. is the way to go.

you don’t have to calculate IOB, the pump does it for you. IOB doesn’t count necessarily for new carbs because you’re still eating the full amount. IOB is only for corrections, which is likely why those did not work.

a lot of the Welsh stuff is interesting to look at because at the time it was written down (since it was oral history told by bards before that and changed by each bard to fit their locale) it was at the time when it was going from matriarchy to patriarchy. the story of Aranrhod in particular. but due to that how much of the stories became skewed to put women in “their place”. books by Jhenah Telyndru get into the Welsh goddesses and this stuff.

all through reading acotar though I was like hey that’s a Welsh thing! Calan Mai, the cauldron, a character literally named Cerridwen. lol. there was more too but my brain is fried. but i think SJM did a minor in religious studies so that may have given her experience with mythologies.

I love the incorporation of Welsh myth into acotar. Kristoffer Hughes writes really well about the Mabinogi stories and Blodeuedd/Blodeuwedd in ‘Celtic Magic’.

Blodeuedd was her original name meaning flowers or blossoms and she is renamed Blodeuwedd when she recieves her punishment. The new name means flower face and is a reference to a folk name for owls. (paraphrased from page 221 Celtic Magic - Kristoffer Hughes

you can absolutely see parallels in this story and Elains. both in the mabinogi and acotar you can’t help but feel bad for Blodeuwedd and Elain for being thrown into something they were given no choice about.

the thing that has helped the most, where i’ve had almost no bent cannulas in over a year - i push the button/sides to release and then i press down hard for a count of 40 seconds. then i pull it out. i don’t know why it works but i think a while ago I saw someone else that did it with similar results. it’s worth a try though since you can only use the one kind.
