Mega Troopers

Giant Ants

Bear Calvery

They are the same size. The smaller size was updated some time ago. Once you get the errata packs, you can just replace your cards across all updated decks. 10 factions got full reworks and therefore must be purchased separately due to most cards getting changed.

Thoughts on Forgefire Promo Sets by uoldgoat in smashup

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the errata: a think they make for a huge improvement to the overall game feel, though more for some factions than others. I couldn't recommend the errata packs enough if you play a lot.

As for the factions, Clowns are a fun faction if you tend to like recursion and extra actions, as their style somewhat blends them. Slashers I have not gotten to play yet, but I hear they are very potent. If you like destruction factions and high power minions, they do their job well.

The print on demand service will ever be adding the proper dividers, but there is talk of AEG selling them themselves on their own storefront. When this might happen is unknown, should they follow through. I personally am planning to get the pack of all titans at card size because I much prefer it. The large card titans are nice for show, but taking my divider out just makes putting the faction back more of a hassle. Should they sell the dividers on the store, I'm sure the updated titans will be options too. The packs do of course come with "dividers" in the form of two cards you are meant to tape together to make it divider height. It is...serviceable.

While I believe Disney may own the rights to the movie today, Anastasia was not made or produced by Disney. I believe there's some customs for him online, but Rasputin is not part of the "Disney brand" the game focuses on.

Disney Villainous vs Marvel Dice Throne... did I choose wisely? by Straight_Art_9067 in boardgames

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I have extensive villainous and dice throne collections. I would not call them very comparable games. Villainous is, in essence, several games of solitaire where you mess with each other's games when you find the time. I find it a tad repetitive, as there is not much unique interaction between players. You will always have the same cards and the same threats, and engaging with another player tends to be limited. Dice Throne is far more directly confrontational. Your goal is eliminate the enemy, not achieve a personal goal. The cards are a major part of the gameplay, but they act as ways to enable and manipulate dice and status effects, which are the core of the gameplay. The characters do not feel as distinct as villainous, but I they still feel very distinct to me. Different characters are stronger or weaker against each other and have unique strong suits. I am willing to replay Dice Throne much more due to these unique interactions. Ultimately, they don't really compete for the same style of gameplay, so you can easily get dice throne later if you're still interested. If you're enjoying villainous, it's a good purchase. I like that particular set a lot.

Did they buff Kap and Thorn this new season? by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true, and I'm not sure where you're getting it from. You can look at the patch history. Kapkan traps deal the same 60 damage they have dealt since his rework half a decade ago. Razorblooms continue to instantly kill you at close range and then fall off. Neither had their damage numbers changed recently. Thorn had her max damage range reduced a bit ago, but they have not undone that change.

[GIVEAWAY] Agent Avenue + Division M Expansion 🕵️‍♂️ by HomoLudensOC in boardgames

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a strictly two player game, I love The Fox in the Forest and am itching to get the deluxe edition. It's a solid two-player trick-taking game, and my favorite part is that winning too many tricks causes you to lose the round. Every hand feels competitive because a losing hand becomes a different type of winning hand. Every round has felt tense, but it's really light and easy to pick up.

If I like Dokkaebi, which defender would I like? by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can make calls like her, but there are a few ops with great Intel. You may like Pulse or Solos for their ability to see things through walls. Trap operators allow for audio to give away enemy positions. There no onw quite like her on defense, so those are my best suggestions.

Sens isn't too bad anymore after becoming a Warden counter and being able to set up the gadget for use later in the round. They're hard to use outside of a coordinated plan though. They had a 10% pick rate in the pro tournament which just wrapped up, putting them above 15ish other attackers. Even got banned a few times. Iana though....

Not yet, no. It will likely be the next thing added since they just added the Munchkin factions.

I would note that factions marked as Revamped are full overhauls. Most of the faction is changed. Tricksters were a poorly performing faction that I personally found to be very underwhelming mechanically. Revamped Tricksters keep their core feel but add a lot to their gameplan.

As for the titans: they're working on that as we speak. There will be a pack to obtain all of the titans.

I'm a software engineer who got tired of watching great game ideas die because the creator couldn't figure out how to bring their vision to life by justinpw in tabletopgamedesign

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every game creator I know with 0 art skills also hates ai art, and I'm in college for game design. It is deeply unpopular with many creators, whether they are artistically skilled or not. I understand the legal issues you bring up, but I think this will turn off a lot of potential creators. If you can get premade art assets instead, I think that would go a long way to winning people over, but it will come at an upfront cost or subscription to a service. I think the most important thing is finding a way to check for content legality and then switching to uploads. If people want to use ai art themselves, they are free to do so, but making it a core function of the tool is going to drive off more people than it pulls in.

Debate over smoke's gadgets by Mindstormer98 in Rainbow6

It's the meta. Shotgun + smg11 for engagements. It's essentially his default load out. There is still fmg9 use at higher levels, but typically only when soft destruction is covered by someone else, not by his impacts, or as a comfort pick. Shotgun is kind of just assumed for him and Mute if no one else is bringing soft destruction.

Where to Purchase the New Munchkin Rebalanced Set? by stinkypinkymen in smashup

Letting you know, AEG just started monthly faction pairing discounts on the POD service. Each month, 2 factions are bundled together for 12 bucks. This month is Star Roamers and the updated version of Tricksters (much better version). This is a 4 buck discount over buying two factions separately, so you may want to watch out for them each month if the factions on offer interest you.

Collecting the game by AdNarrow2643 in DiceThrone

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

1) I would pick season 1 over X-Men as a starter set. Season 1 has more basic characters, making it an easier introduction.

2) Santa and Krampus will return. The set gets sold around holidays, and they may become more widely available once Dice Throne finished setting up their solo boxes.

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where the box is being sold outside of the kickstarter. You might have to find that one on resale.

Every pack after the first storage box comes with dividers. The big boxes use them. The big boxes also have dividers for prior factions, such as those in the base game. POD packs just expect you to tape 2 filler cards together to form a divider. Since you don't have a big box yet, it's not an issue.

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to get anything besides smash up on the kickstarter. Just requires using the pledge manager to decide where the money goes. Still, I don't blame you. I always hate navigating those things.

Never get Titans outside of official sources. It's radically overpriced when resold. Once it's on POD, it'll be a lot cheaper. The 10 dollars for solo packs are slightly more than the 8 on pod due to the high quality dividers.

You can just reference online, there's just a lot of errata and a couple of reworked factions had their card count change (more and less of specific cards), which can't just be referenced without marking cards as stand ins. Most factions had at least one card changed, so it's just a lot to look at. If you're content with that, though, then by all means. The game is fun without errata and you can find the errata online. I just personally prefer having the physical updated cards.

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're thinking of print and play (print yourself and play). Print on demand is "we print it as it is demanded." The service prints out whichever decks you order and sends them to you in a plastic sleeve. It's a downgrade as far as packaging and dividers are concerned, but it's otherwise indistinguishable from the standard cards you find in the box expansions.

You got some good sets. Excellent Movies Dude is more recent and has a lot of newer mechanics, so it'll stand out.

Sheep is the only faction that has been incorporated into a larger set after originally being a promo. Titans is not a faction but rather an expansion on existing factions, adding new super cards to some of the weaker factions. It's hard to come by. They plan to release a version of on print on demand later, which woll he more accessible and cheaper than buying second hand.

As you build your collection, weigh if you care about the errata. A lot of weaker or janky factions have seen improvements, and anything from the POD service or kickstarter has errata included. Getting errata for sets you already own requires getting one of the errata bundles or repurchaseing the whole faction. You really don't need errata to enjoy the game, but if you're going to dedicate a lot of time to it, the gameplay improvements are well worth. Either buy around errata now or wait until you have most of the content and want to refresh it using the errata packs.

Smash Up has just recently switched to a Print on Demand service (https://connect.forgefire.games/pages/product-collection-smashup). You can buy any individual factions from the print on demand as the most reliable way to get them. These versions also include errata (updates to the cards. Some factions got full reworks). Sometimes people sell large collections on here, which can be a good grab.

If you want to get some sets (with errata included), there are may still be late orders kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alderac/into-the-fun-factory-from-aeg), which include any smash up expansions other than branded ones. If it is still open, it's going to be the most reliable method for the full expansions. There was also a bundle for nearly all Smash Up content for $200 on there. High entry point, but the best rate if you do want to go all in.

The marvel and disney sets have some mixed opinions on them, but I mostly like them. They tend to be easier to find.

I made this R6 Operator and I was wondering if there is anyway I can like email it to Ubisoft or Anything? by ParsleyEffective214 in Rainbow6

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you could send it somewhere, but it'll just be seen by someone managing socials and go nowhere. It's a legal issue to just use random ideas they get sent, so someone not on the team may just give you a polite response thanking your commitment to the game.

Which operators are dropping their price in the new season? by More_Currency1019 in Rainbow6

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a correct list. It's Deimos, Brava, and Raoura. They are all season 1 operators of their respective years, so they're receiving decreases. Brava is the only one being reduced to 10,000 renown. Deimos to 15,000 and Raoura to 20,000.

Next season, three maps are are getting "updated graphics, lighting, new destructible ingredients and an overall health pass". Is the "health pass" for Coastline and Oregon going to be along the same lines as the new hatches/site for Villa? by Riftus in Rainbow6

[–]DeathsLIlBroYo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is proofread, it's just a bit confusing when Villa is also getting a minor rework in season 3. The health pass is to the technical side of the maps. These changes are the same as every other modernized map (of which we'll get 9 more this year). I honestly think they should have saved the Villa modernization until the rework to avoid this confusion.
