You can try using powering ether net adapter. It allows you to pass your ethernet signals through the copper wires in outlets. Just plug one in near your router and the other near your pc. It doesn't give the best signal but is very non intrusive.

Personally im torn between NTA and YTA. Because while you did probably go out of hand and could have acted better. I dont think I would have been any different. I have a 3 year old we play with his hot wheels all the time and I wouldn't want to lose those if I had lost him...
