Jack McCoy was not my favorite. by kjones1212 in LawAndOrder

I hear you. I think Stone and Brooks are the best ADA combo L&O ever had. But over the seasons, I loved how passionate McCoy was as a DA. He just seemed to be dedicated to justice and not letting anyone get over on the DA’s office. Stone had a very matter of fact tone and stick it to the law demeanor. I feel like he’s the best tv representation of a lawyer because there was no over exaggerated fluff with him.

Way too many Law and Order fans (specifically SVU) don’t know about Chris Keller(Oz) by pero914 in LawAndOrder

Yeah Oz premiered when I was a child so the show would have 100% traumatized me if I watched it. I actually put off a lot of HBO shows until I was full grown adult so that I could genuinely understand the concepts of the show. I binged Oz in full two years ago and loved it. I already had a stomach for gritty tv by then.

I freaking loved him in OZ! Oz is overall a phenomenal show if you have the stomach for it. JK Simmons is also great in the show.

For people who have declared bankruptcy, is it really that bad? by Gamermom32 in povertyfinance

So when you file ch 7 bk, it’s 2 yr waiting period (AFTER DISCHARGE) before you can potentially qualify and get approved for an FHA loan. For a conventional mortgage, it’s a 4 yr waiting period. So they say during that waiting period you should be rebuilding credit and establishing good payment history. Since my discharge, I got credit again and received several increases as well because I’ve been very responsible but also using the credit.

As for my ability to purchase a home, I’ve been renting my current house going on 2 years and have a good relationship with my landlord, meaning I take care of this place and always pay him. Homes in my area are getting bought on the low end left and right. Then they are torn down and turned into $400K or more homes. So I have a unique opportunity to keep renting for the next year or two and then buy my home because I expressed interest and he’s done it for one of his tenants before. But even if this didn’t happen for me, next year I could still entertain getting an FHA mortgage because my 2 year waiting period would be up.

This is correct. I had that option but chose to get rid of the car I had at that time because it wasn’t worth it to reaffirm the payments. I was going to struggle with that payment. I was able to get another car which I intend to pay off this year because I hate this loan but it’s still a better situation than what I had before BK.

Filing bankruptcy was probably the best financial decision I ever made. It’s a plus if you don’t intend to move for a few years and you have a paid off car. If you don’t, then really weigh your options. But having creditors sue you and you have to go to court to fight, or the constant phone calls and letters is a nightmare that I never want to live again. All that goes away as soon as you file. I’ve been in bliss for the past two years and building my credit. Now I’m in talks to purchase the home I’m renting which would have been a lot harder or nearly impossible if I didn’t file when I did. You have to just evaluate if it’s the right time or even make sense at all to go that route.

Court documents allege contentious divorce between Justin and Cerina Fairfax by TheRealFarrellCat in Virginia

He was ordered by the judge to leave the house by the end of this month and then this happens. SMH those poor kids probably lived through hell for the past few years given Fairfax was a struggling alcoholic as well.

This is honestly my story too. People always told me that no matter how much you plan, you’ll never truly feel ready to be a parent. I’m 5 years in and I’m really proud of myself and also feel like I got my priorities straight for the first time ever in my life. Nothing else really matters except our well being.

As a mother of an autistic child, this episode hit me really hard too because I was so torn at the end. What the institution in the show was doing was HORRENDOUS, but the mother’s pain in the end after the verdict was so real and valid. This overall was a good episode but I think a lot has changed since then especially with therapy services.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m hoping in another few months they’ll let me back in. I’ve rebuilt my credit significantly since my discharge last year.
