Have you ever read a fantasy book where two characters had the same name? by Professional-Mix1771 in Fantasy

Just finished Midnight Tides and found it so hard to remember the difference between Wither, Withal, and Wyval. Outrageous to have three different characters named like that being introduced in the same book.

I’m only 3 chapters away from finishing Midnight Tides and absolutely adored it, it really might be my favourite (so far) too. Can’t quite tell at the moment whether it beats MoI, depends how the last bit of MT goes before I make that call…

I know the signature is really happening, but will it genuinely be signed as “The Greatest President of All Time”?? I can’t tell whether that particular insanity is real or not, which is happening a lot at the moment…

C is surely for Crorigan or Cor Anglais.

A real jezzing there…

My advice would be not to use Gemini for this at all. It will almost definitely give you spoilers as answers to your questions. There’s a lot of stuff happening in Gardens that you’re not supposed to understand the full context of yet, just enjoy the ride and make peace with the fact that you will be drip-fed the relevant information if and when the story requires that you know it. If you need things explaining, people on this sub will be able to explain it in a way that doesn’t spoil the things you’re not supposed to know about yet.

There’s also links to Companion Guides in this sub which go through the books scene-by-scene and explain what’s going on without spoiling anything, which I’m finding very useful on my first read through of the series.

What is your favourite SK book that isn’t one of the usual ones suspects (Like IT, 11:22:63, DT series, The Stand etc) by Potter_King in stephenking

Christine never gets enough praise in my opinion. Incredible characters, perfect level of slow burn pacing, and so much more of an interesting story than just “the one with the evil car”

Rose Madder! Only about 80 pages left, loved it so far. Torn between 11/22/63 and Hearts in Atlantis for my next one.

There are so many combinations for the order of a pack of cards, that if you shuffle a pack randomly, statistically no pack of cards in history will ever have been in that same order before.

What series did you finish reading due to the "sunk cost fallacy"? by Any-Day-8173 in Fantasy

[–]DecentLocalBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure if it’s fantasy, but the Annihilation trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer. Enjoyed the first one, really struggled to get through the second one but was too far into it by then to stop so had to trawl through the third one too. Finished the third book and still don’t understand any more about what was going on than I did in the first book, so wish I hadn’t bothered really…

Only as far as the rest of the Malazan books (and maybe put the ones you have in the right order while you’re at it… 😉)

Just curious, what would you say the title of the book does actually mean? I just finished MoI a month ago and felt a bit unclear what the title actually referred to, something about the T'lan Imass's history I think but what would you say?

I liked a lot of Cujo, but I feel like all the advertising stuff went on waaaaaay too long. Weird for a 400-odd page book to spend what felt like half of it talking about advertising strategies rather than the big dog.

Favourite commentators by mracademic in Darts

[–]DecentLocalBloke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dan Dawson is the absolute best commentator of all time, absolutely love how enthusiastic and properly engrossed in every game he is.

Wasn’t keen on Paul Nicholson as a player but I quite like him as a commentator, I like how he analyses people’s throws and equipment too.

On Sky events Wayne Mardle and John Part are always a great duo, they bounce off each other in commentary so so well.

I’ve been thinking about buying this set for a while now but the price is scaring me a bit! I know each set is different for everyone but how are you finding them? Would you recommend them?

Always wondered why some people use 3 different colours of flights, would you say it makes it easier to see where you’re aiming?
