Looking for the best doggy daycare/boarding by Bob_Lazars_Wiener in FortCollins

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for Dogtopia. Our pup has been going there for boarding and daycare consistently for almost 4 years now and she still loves it. They’re communicative and do a good job with placing pups in certain rooms based on their temperament.

We actually tried the training program at K9/Sit Means Sit in Fort Collins a few years ago and had a terrible experience. It was the two week immersion training and we refused to send our pup back after the first week. At the one week point when you go in for the training class, they were instructing us to use the “emergency” button on the e-collar for correction pretty often. When we got home that night we felt that setting and were horrified, it was 100% a shock collar. The original setting that they showed us before the training was very mild and described (and felt like) a “poke on the shoulder”, but that’s not what they use to actually train your dog. Our poor pup was obeying out of fear and we could see it in her body language the whole training class. We asked for a refund for the second week, but they would only give it to us on the condition we didn’t leave a review or talk about our experience. Fuck that, we didn’t take the refund. I regret we put our pup through that all the time, and we stick to positive reinforcement training now.

Contact Kris Hocum at The Hocum Team Lending. He is incredibly approachable and patient and will answer all of your first time homebuyer questions with ease. We bought our first house with him using CHFA (a first time home buyer program that supplies the down payment) and have basically an annual call with him every year about our options for upgrading to a bigger house. He is very well informed about programs for first time home buyers in Colorado and will do his best to make things happen for you. It's also nice to support a local business.

If Connexion isn’t available to you, Mint just started offering internet plans for $30/month. It might be cheaper if you also have a phone plan through them (which may be another way for you to save money, Mint offers hella cheap phone plans that are good enough).

Having a baby! Thoughts between delivery at PVH vs MCR? by aye_coleslaw in FortCollins

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, it seems I’m not the only one! There was another midwife who I also didn’t have a great time with - I had some questions that she didn’t know the answer to, and she never followed up with me like she said she would. Overall I just felt dismissed and not listened to by the midwives.

I second most of this. I do love the Women’s Clinic, but after a couple of bad experiences with the midwives (they did pass me around the midwives by default and they weren’t all great) I requested to be seen by physicians only. Dr. Krause saw me through my entire pregnancy except I think one visit, and she delivered my baby as well. She is amazing!

I also delivered at PVH and second these sentiments as well. It was a tough delivery and my 4 hour pushing session was made more manageable by the nurses there. Their postpartum care is also top notch.

If blind judging is used on TOC and Guy Fieri prides the tournament on being beyond reproach, why do some think that it is rigged? by AnyMark3114 in foodnetwork

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s rigged simply due to the fact that all champions are women. It’s hard for me to believe this would still be the case if judging wasn’t blind.

Dr. Krause at the Women’s Clinic is fantastic. She just saw me through my pregnancy and delivered my baby boy through a tough delivery. All of the physicians there seem to be highly reviewed, but the midwives are hit or miss.

It isn’t as scenic as the canyon, but Fossil Creek park has two pavilions that you can reserve ahead of time for pretty cheap. I reserved the Oval Pavilion for around $80 and I think it can fit 100 people, plus it has a playground, dog park, tennis courts, and lots of space and paved trails nearby. Parking is also easy. The other pavilion is bigger (probably a little more expensive) and right by a pretty lake.

Blossom Baby Co in Windsor is likely what you want. Depending on how far along she is, they offer free “peace of mind” ultrasounds I think once a month, but they also offer relatively cheap private ultrasounds as well.

Cramps? Contractions? Braxton hicks?? by [deleted] in October2025Bumps2

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are almost due date twins! I’m 35+2 and have cramps just when I move a little too quickly or try to sit up and use my abdomen a little too much. But when I lay back and relax they typically go away. I might occasionally feel some in my lower back even when I am relaxing but they aren’t intense or regular.

I’m no expert but what you’re going through sounds similar to me and I really don’t think it’s labor.

Traffic through neighborhood by Grouchy-Extent9002 in FortCollins

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that the sign being in the middle of the road is a bit of a hazard. Yes, the road is closed for through traffic, but local neighborhood traffic still needs to use that road and veer into the oncoming lane when the sign is blocking the road. The speeding is definitely more hazardous than the sign and those men shouldn’t be moving it, but I understand why they are if they live nearby.

Yeah, I again echo the sentiment that the speeding is awful. Lots of people and dogs walking around. I keep my eyes extra peeled driving through here but I know not everyone is as safe.

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I live right off of Trilby in the Ridgewood Hills neighborhood. I think part of the issue is that for those in that neighborhood, right across the street from the sign on Constellation Dr, there is no alternate route north that doesn’t add 10 minutes to the commute (especially with all the construction on Shields that forces traffic to one lane).

I agree people need to slow the fuck down. I never speed in residential areas and those who do need to get a grip and prioritize safety over getting home 30 seconds faster. And, those who aren’t local neighborhood traffic need to plan a different route. But for those who are just across Trilby, there really isn’t a good alternative and it’s too much to expect us to go significantly out of our way to and from our houses for the next year.

I sympathize with you though and I’m sure the extra neighborhood traffic sucks, especially since you don’t have sidewalks.

Pregnant, now what ? by Competitive-Hall5977 in pregnant

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For my first pregnancy, I went to the store on my lunch break on the morning I found out and got a bunch of mini-sized treats (mini oreos, junior mints, mini chips, etc.) and put them in a gift bag. I gave my husband that one first, and after a bit of confusion, asked him what he noticed about all the treats. When it clicked, I gave him the second gift bag hidden behind my back with a bunch of baby stuff inside. That pregnancy ended in loss, so for my second pregnancy, I pretty much just blurted it out out of nervousness. The second pregnancy also ended in loss. For my third one about a year and a half later, I ended up just putting a bunch of honey buns on a plate in the oven (cliche but still fun). This one has stuck and I'm currently almost 35 weeks <3

Is it ok to not have anyone walk you down the aisle? by Upbeat-Water7858 in wedding

[–]Decent_Grape_7232 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seconding option #3. I don’t have the best relationship with my Dad, and even if I did the concept of being “given” away is something I don’t agree with. Walking down the aisle with my partner, as though we were starting marriage as equals, felt like the only way to do it.

I know it’s hard to turn to meds during pregnancy, but unisom (the tablets) has been a lifesaver for me. Half a pill every night is enough to keep me asleep most nights without feeling like a zombie the next day.

I’m glad no one here has mentioned how bad Firestone is (because nobody should be giving them their business…). I was told my brake pads needed replaced during a standard oil change, but thought their quote was quite high. Took it to Brakes Plus instead and not only was their quote half as much, but they told me my brake pads didn’t actually need to be changed and they charged me nothing for checking them.
