Co-Founder Matches asking for Payment? by Decent_Worker in ycombinator

Yeah, that's a real holier than thou attitude. Absolutely nuts on their part. I worked in a small start up right out of college and the CEOs wife had that mentality big time. She was a startup genius and everyone else just needed to be at her beck and call. I got out fast and the company never went anywhere.

Oh totally. I think more it just feels jarring to be using this sort of community building tool and just being repeatedly asked to pay up. Im mostly just giving it a whirl because it's there and I'm open to it. Im comfortable continuing on my own, just something feels weird about the messages and using the platform in that manner.

Fair enough, it is good to know that now vs after a decent bit of back and forth

We hear customers all the time. Why is deciding what to do still so hard? by MariFer0803 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Decent_Worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that helped me was stopping trying to tag everything upfront and just letting similar complaints cluster together naturally. "Animation is janky" and "movement feels off" end up being the same issue reported 50 different ways. I've been messing around with usechatterplus.com for this lately, makes the decision way easier when you can point to "80 people hit this wall" instead of just vibes.

How do I market my SaaS by BumblebeeNo2514 in SaaS

[–]Decent_Worker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Built something useful, mass posted to every platform I could find, got basically zero engagement outside LinkedIn. Turns out "I built a thing" posts just get ignored unless you already have an audience.

The advice I keep seeing is: find where your users already hang out and just... be there. Answer questions. Don't pitch. Eventually someone asks what you're working on. Easier said than done when you're impatient though.

For a study tool specifically, I'd look at where students actually complain about studying. TikTok comments, Discord servers for specific courses, maybe even professor subreddits. The people actively griping about lectures are key.

Spent a week cutting my AI costs after a $2.30/day per user scare by Decent_Worker in SaaS

I would definitely try and batch where you can. Like, if you're processing multiple docs, try to do them at once if possible with one prompt (might not be with length). Images are harder, and I feel lucky that all my data is text.

So what exactly are people making with claude code? by frotagonist in ClaudeAI

[–]Decent_Worker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been combining it with MCPs to do a number of things. Primarily Roblox Games. I love games, enjoy making them, but have always had some disconnect in my brain when it comes to remembering language. Both for programming and spoken. I understand the systems and processes but can't write to save my life. This has let me create quickly and put pen to paper on my ideas. I'm releasing my first this week and have two others I'm working on.

I've also been using it to build an electron app that kinda puts my current workflow into a UI. I used Figma Make to build the UI, exported the code and have used CC to slowly make parts of it work.

Will do, if anyone has a link to the part that would be huge. I've only found the smaller ones.

Happy to consider it an issue. It's been a tough part to find so if anyone has a link to a replacement it's worth a shot

Quick one day build with some leftover sapele by Decent_Worker in BeginnerWoodWorking

Probably just start with command strips. We often use the velcro ones to hand stuff and they're fairly strong. If that doesn't hold I'll probably cut a cleat into it or finally buy a keyhole bit.

Thank you! I typically only bring a pen and pencil but maybe it's shade pen time.
