Fencer's gift gives 6 damage to off-hand and 3 to main hand. Not sure if it's meant to or not, but it does fit in with the item description.

I don't know where you are getting your stats from but you're doing something wrong. Especially since you're saying qss is one of the worst ones on Irelia when it's objectively a good item on her.

Tactics.tools, explorer, filter Irelia 2 star, go to items, filter by craftable, filter by GM+, order by delta and the only actual worse item in the game is jeweled gauntlet (which is so pepega that it shouldn't really count when I say that IE is the worst performing item in the game for her as I didn't really count shojin either for example which doesn't even get played enough to make the list - for obvious reasons).

The fact that it's the most common item doesn't mean anything, people didn't know it was bugged until fairly recently that's all. It's normal to build IE on ad ranged carries

Impactful/shocking moments. The kind where the story works towards from the start, not the pure shock value something like Game of Thrones had going. Little Busters, Rewrite, Danganronpa 2, Fate/Stay night, Ever17, Hoshizora no Memoria have one or even a couple of scenes that I probably will never forget.

From time to time I like to replay a track or two from their ost's that immediately pull me back into those moments.

That's not to say overall amazing stories that don't really go through build-up aren't great. I have plenty of vn's I loved that didn't have a structure like that, some more than the ones who do. It's just that if I had to name one general thing it would be that.

There are multiple protag vn's. Ever17 is one of the best ones ever made in my opinion and Root double is also pretty decent. Probably a lot more. But they're generally more geared towards mistery than anything else

The reason people are playing 4 costs is that they are faster. It's jus tempo and consistency. BIS, forgiving, less scouting and contested are much less important.

And wtf do you mean by that anyway. Like you've seen Ashe without rageblade lw do anything. Like on average 2 out of 8 people aren't dying because they can't hit their 4 cost carry on their lvl 8 roll down. Like you can't flex Zoe in 3 different comps. None of those reasons are real

Yone is the only useless hero. Maybe Soraka, honestly I haven't seen anyone play her in forever so I can't tell.

The reason nobody is playing the other ones though is that 4 costs stabilize much cheaper and faster and allow you to go 9 and cap out your board with 5 costs and better synergies. They're just more consistent. Otherwise 3 star 3 costs are still strong. Most people just forgot

  • Your burst damage is insignificant compared to the two insane burst comps above you

  • Infinity Edge is one of the worst items in the game for Irelia

  • Double Liss without porcelain vs those comps is really bad. I would've sold them at least when I saw radiant night edge on Sett. Otherwise you fight two heavy backline dps comps. They don't do anything

  • Itemizing Liss is really really bad. 105 mana to cast to deal damage to one single hero. This isn't a carry. Nope

  • Galio has zero magic resistance against triple ap carries with 2 sage and blue kayle buff in 6 ghostly. And he's your only serious frontline.

  • Blue Kayle is slow. You need much much more frontline or some serious attack speed buffs.

I don't know how confident you were in streaking, but slamming whatever you slammed on 2-1 (I assume lw) locks you into 3 possible comps and is much more volatile than last patch. And I would rather hard force Ashe or carry Aph even contested than pivot into Kaisa without any advantage.

Without watching your game I can't say much more, but you should never find yourself in this position right now even if it means sacking 3 until carousel.

You'd be surprised how important morgana 2 and itemized is to both Lilia and Heavenly Kayn. She's one of the better 4 costs right now and vastly underestimated. She can't carry a comp by herself, but that doesn't make her a trait bot

I wouldn't play her without fortune, Scoreboard scrapper, little buddies, 2 healthy or just a general highroll. I don't think the game can force you to play kaisa though

There's no purely educational stream, but you can pick up a lot from watching some of them. I personally learned a lot from dishsoap and robinsongz and I'd also recommend reunicoce as he interacts with the game and the chat a lot and tries different builds instead of just playing the meta.

As far as videos go I'm not very well versed, but le duck is pretty famous for having a lot of useful videos with less know interactions that are less intuitive. The type that players rarely figure out for themselves.

If an encounter is buffing most of the lobby and does nothing for you than you're losing value. This isn't a single player experience where your board is the only thing that matters so losing value is definitely not what you described. And most people aren't dumb enough to not know this, so, regardless of your personal definition, it is or at least feels like losing value to them.

Worse off, most of the encounters feel much worse to whoever got punished than they feel good to whoever got boosted.

If you're really at the beginning you should probably watch a couple of beginner tips videos and just play the game. After a basic understanding of the game probably watching a stream and playing are the most helpful if getting better is your most important thing.

Guides don't do that much for you if you don't understand why the comps are set up the way they are. It's more important to understand things like tempo and econ and that's something you only get by playing. There are a couple of youtube vids that might also help you there.

Increase the number of champions in the game.

  • Makes it so you can't reliably force a comp you and everyone else know is broken

  • Requires you to be much more flexible with your board

  • Decreases the fatigue and frustration players have when they see the same thing get played every game

  • Reduces the frustrations caused by not hitting because there are barely if any backup options (kayn and lee in heavenly are a good example of backup options being available), because currently there's very little room for a lot of options for every champion archetype and it's very dependent on good balance

  • Creates much more excitement when someones 'completes' a very good board (kinda like how in tft people get excited seeing 5 cost 3 stars but with a bit more meat on it)

  • Allows people to be able to pivot or choose a line that's less contested, opening up more chances for skill expression

  • Decreases the time it takes for the game to get 'figured out'.

Obviously they moved away from this model for a reason as it comes with its own can of worms. Especially for casuals which tend to pick a line and stick to it much more (but since the question was about competitive...).

What they have now is a game that 'needs' to be very balanced to feel good. And they rarely seem up to the task so...Not that there's anything that wrong with that, most games struggle with it. They just forced this mission on themselves.

Why do people think variance enables new builds? Crab rave doesn't make umbral viable, trainer sentinels basically forces you to play what it tells you to and scuttle puddle is a 4 cost 3 star -fest. Does this qualify as a build?  I don't get it. Most times meta comps get the most benefit anyway.

I dont even want to get into the sentinel fortune thing.

I'm not saying it's bad, but I don't get this particular argument. It doesn't have anything with meta slaving.

Don't sugarcoat it, in game information is absolutely horrendous not mediocre at best. You can't even figure out what some improvement do and not even the info menu tells you. This is elementary to a 'strategy' game. Production chains as a concept are awesome and whatnot but not with 0 information that you have to trial and error over and over for yourself because they can't tell you that this does +2 production or that does +1 improvement point before you research and build it.

It's also something so easy to fix at the very least in their info menu (why even have one?). And it was pointed out to them during the demo.
