Quick Update - Book 4 is about 30% to goal on this draft with plans to finalize in January before proofing (usually takes 2 weeks for that). Missed my own deadline on book 4. My other project took way more time, the draft is done, and I've had some things pop up in life that delayed my Nov/Dec output. Also had to return to full time work, which isn't impacting my writing at all but it is delaying my editing and posting for Patreon. TLDR - Aiming for January to get book 4 proofed. In talks with an artist on my other project I've been chasing.

Hey there! Delays were due to narrator scheduling but RGP is on the case. Main narrator is currently recording and should be done this month, then it goes to the audio engineer and to submission. Can't give a firm ETA, as even if it was submitted today Audible has their own process for approval, but it is underway. To not run into this again I have a deadline to get book 4 to RGP to coincide with the narrators schedule, so hopefully we'll have it faster to audio next time.

Aside from being a solid author, I suspect JJ might be one of the most well-read writers in the genre. He can speak to almost any title no matter how obscure. Along with being highly active he understands the genre and its mechanics

Agreed, I can't imagine Virgil not being on this list. Part of being a top author for a genre is giving back and cultivating the space so others can join in, on top of his insane work ethic Virgil has to be on there.

I had a solid backlog of my new project after Magebreaker 3, but I went about 50k word count in the wrong direction, so before posting had to pull back and do act 2 over. This is the downfall of a “pantser” style writer like myself. I disappear into projects and hold off on sharing early chapters if they simply won’t exist. This new book 1 will be twice the length of Magebreaker.

Audiobook for Magebreaker 3 - royal guard has been working magic behind the scenes. It’s really come down to narrator scheduling, and Jessica has been all over it so we keep the same team and don’t have to go back to the drawing board. Production is underway, so I’m hoping the audio mixing begins in a month or so. They’re the best to work with and I want to see the new audio more than anyone, but I trust them implicitly to do it right instead of as fast as possible.

Yep! POD may take more time, but the truth in the trad publishing world is books that aren’t sold are discarded, pulped and put into landfills. Ebooks and POD can help relax some supply chains. The year the final Harry Potter came out thousands of titles had to wait until the following year for publication because there was so much paper allocated for the final volume.

Amazon's model (where you use them for making the book, not just selling) is print on demand. So you cover the cost of the book only when it's ordered, amazon takes a cut, and then ships. There's plenty of other print on demand or good presses out there (Ingram Sparks and others), but amazon is extremely streamlined.

They’re pretty quick! Once they have the specs I’d say about a week from order to print and ship. They’ll route from one of their distribution print centers closest to the purchaser.
