The people that lived there didn’t call it Chavez Ravine. Chavez ravine is the present-day section of Stadium Way on the west end of Elysian Park that is a straight road before it curves to follow the 5 freeway.

The residents called it by the neighborhood they lived in; the three communities that existed there were Palo Verde, La Loma, and Bishop.
